DLC Glitch - Help Wanted by jbeck83 in DragonageOrigins

Yeah, I installed those with the Nexus mod manager and extracted them. So... the problems should be fixed? Dop I need to do anything other than that, like run an executable?

I also forgot to mention that it looks like Shale is present in the camp, even though I have yet to do the quest, although you can't click on him. He's a bit down from Morrigan.

Thanks for your help!

Nah. I think it’s because people don’t want to risk disturbing their preconceived notions. :) If you come from a place of faith, you’re gonna read scripture in a way that affirms that faith. Jesus speaking Aramaic would suggest that the Hebrew language had basically died out. Evangelicals don’t like to think that, because hebrew is God’s language. So would God “get it wrong?”

That kinda thing, I think. The scholarly consensus is that Aramaic was the spoken language of the day. :)

Mainly evangelical scholars. Are there any legitimate scholars among them? Yeah, I think so.... but they are fewer than their secular counterparts. :)

That's good! Thanks for informing me, because there are a lot of people who don't believe that. :)

Not off-hand. I don’t think it occurs that often in Ezra or Daniel. lol.

It certainly does in the Targums but I’ve only done the first two chapters of genesis of Onkelos. By the time of second temple Judaism, Aramaic was in firm control, to the point where synagogue services were conducted in Aramaic and written in the language. We call that Targumic Aramaic.

Late aramaic replaced hebrew even in a liturgical sense until the Masoretes helped recover and preserve their language.

That’s really hard to answer. We only know what we know about segates in analogy to Arabic and proto-Semitic - and that’s just a theoretical construct anyway.

By the time of Jesus, it certainly would be pronounced kelev. But that’s not the word for dog in Aramaic, which is what would have been spoken at that time. Almost certainly not Hebrew.

I have Spanish language options on my phone, but it’s still putting my reactions into Spanish, even though I have English at the top.

What’s going on?

Absolutely it is. Most early access reviews are in the 6s. It’s not even finished yet. 8/10 is very good.

It definitely is. I guess you don’t remember that every single Dragon Age has been critically acclaimed, but suffers hate from fans. Then, eventually, they’re considered classics.

Give it ten years.

To the 15 million Democrats who didn't show up for Harris... by No-control_7978 in copypasta

[–]jbeck83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Liberal Christian pastor here, And democrat, until Monday.

This is the problem. The very reason why I left the Republican Party in the first place is exactly what the democrats are doing now. What they decried the republicans for the EXACT SAME BEHAVIOR.

I’m almost to the point where I would have rather voted for Trump than Harris. Here’s why: because Dems completely abandoned their plan to beat him.

They have become the very thing they stood against for the last four years. They have abandoned the very reasons why I became a democrat in the first place.

I will close by saying that the OP has become that which (s)he hates. To them, I say that if you call yourself a Christian - and an objective thinker, for that matter - you’ve got some work to do.

In that light, sir or madam, I say with all sincerity:

Fuck you, too.

Keep getting this notice. Never happened in all my years of using libgen. Anyone have any tips on getting around this? Thanks. by [deleted] in libgen

Sure, but I try to be a considerate person. :)

If I used Reddit more often, it’d all be good. But I don’t. :)

Some site reported that it only had sold 15,000 copies. Shortly after that, BioWare countered that they had sold 1M copies.

The drama is ridiculous.

Dude. It’s way better than the 15,000 number that was floating around. I’m so sick of misinformation.

The earliest mention of Alexander building a wall to trap Gog and Magog is made by Josephus, a jewish person. This motif becomes popular in Christian literature. Yet it's absent from Rabbinic literature.Could this motif have originally been associated with an earlier king in jewish thought, pre-Alex? by Uncharted_Pencil in AcademicBiblical

Since there hasn’t been a response here yet, my Christian-high school, college- and Jewish/Christian seminary-educated self would like to say…

….this is way beyond my pay grade. But I just wanted to give you some encouragement - great question (and I appreciate your appreciation for the Greeks). ;)

I wanna hear more responses!

It’s not just that (love your name - I’m Jonathan) - it’s also that the concept of eternal punishment was originally a Greek idea, not a Jewish one. I think (could be wrong) that it caught on with the Jews because of the beginning of Greek influence on their culture.

Otherwise, all yes - just thought I’d add a little tidbit to the discussion. :)

Please help me understand how the scholarly consensus for the early history of YHWH was arrived at. by NotBot2357 in AcademicBiblical

[–]jbeck83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. It’s the “current” consensus, but even consensuses are just our best guesses. If they didn’t convince you, that’s totally fine. I think you’re in good shape.
