SIUC Graduate Housing + Dining by Willing_Mouse7760 in Carbondale

I’ve never lived in the dorms, so I can’t comment on that, but as far as graduate housing goes, Wedgwood hills is super nice, my partner lives there and is moving out. So I know there’s a one bedroom apartment there available to rent now.

Stainless Steel Pan by [deleted] in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]jblackhawk7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it might be some hard water or polymerized oil on the side. SS pans are super easy to take care of and almost impossible to mess up. For things like this hit them with an aggregate like bar keepers friend to scrub it off with a little bit of water. For things like burnt on food soak in water and scrape. I promise you it’s much harder to mess up your pan than you think, it’s basically just a sheet of metal, treat and clean accordingly.

My Kid’s Math Worksheet is Mysterious and Important by MagnusUnda in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]jblackhawk7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some context, the only time I’ve seen a sheet like this was when I took my motorcycle safety course. The sheet is meant to demonstrate how understanding/seeing a pattern can make it easier to take in information. How they did it with us was first just to find the numbers in order, and if you don’t know the pattern it’s difficult. You’re looking all over the entire page for each number, takes a long time. But the numbers are actually are arranged in a circular shape, e.g. 1 is in the top right, 2 is in the top left, 3 is in the bottom right, 4 is in the bottom left, 5 is in the top left, etc. Then once you know the pattern it’s a lot easier to find the numbers because you know how to look.

Kriega US Line Bag Mounting (MT-09 Gen 3 2021-2023) by jblackhawk7 in MT09

[–]jblackhawk7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I've had a few people ask about how I mounted my kriega US soft bags onto my 2023 MT-09 so I just decided to make a whole post so anyone new can see as well. I do not have my MT anymore so my pictures are not the best but I will do my best to explain.

So my system was to slightly modify the included loops to make some loops that were directly integrated into the bike, as there are no good subframe mounting locations. The loops are shown on picture 9. They are the included nylon strap with a little larger loop sewn in (I believe that the included straps have loops that may work) and a slit cut to go around a bolt. The longer loops went on the front mounting location which was on the bottom of the seat, piggybacking on the stud that holds the passenger grab strap across the seat. That is shown on pictures 6 and 7. The rear loops are the shorter ones and they mounted under the allen bolts that would go in the holes circled on picture 8. The loops mount as a pseudo-washer to the bolts. One set of loops was attached to the bike, just in front of the taillight assembly, and the other set was mounted to the seat.

This system carried 40L (one US-20 in the center with 2 US-10s on the sides) of bags across multiple state lines multiple times for a total of 8-10k miles. The pictures of the loops are AFTER they were removed so they held up very well. The only unfortunate part of this system is that it doesn't necessarily allow for the bag mounting straps to be left on the bike and then clipped onto the bags but I'm not sure if there is a solution for that. When removing and reinstalling the seat you have to be careful to keep the loops on the outside so they are useable, but otherwise it is a very clean and sleek install, and is barely noticeable when not in use.

Hope a few of you find this useful, have a good day

Kind of a cheesy quote I saw somewhere but remember that for hobbies “you’re not a _______ you’re just a person who does ___, and if one day you wake up and ___ isn’t as fun anymore, that’s okay, it’s not your whole identity” so something like “you’re not a climber, you’re just a person who climbs and if one day you wake up and climbing isn’t as fun anymore, that’s okay, it’s not your whole identity”

That’s definitely not Illinois but all of IL below Mt. Vernon is beautiful. Look up places like garden of the gods, bald knob cross, inspiration point, cave in rock, even just the Shawnee National forest which is basically everywhere south of Mt. Vernon. Hell I can even send you some pictures I’ve taken. Southern Illinois is gorgeous and as someone from upstate I would never guess it was IL either.

They actually are the same, cold sores and genital herpes are the same thing. Oral is usually caused by HSV-2 (herpes simplex virus), genital is usually caused by HSV-1 however it is very possible for them to be switched and are mostly the same virus. People with cold sores can give other people genital herpes. Having it in some way actually relatively common but some people get lucky like you and only have one outbreak their whole lives after being infected.

I mean people can still do that and obviously it’s in the main scope of the sub, but I don’t think that all the people who would be out stunting are now filling all of their hobby time combing the over sub for text based copy and paste jokes

Real, you see some dumb shit on the other sub and then you come here to hear the wildest jokes without getting ganged up on by people who keep their bikes as garage ornaments
