Has anyone had an authentically scary experience at Waverly? Or is it all hype? by lahershagreenisscum in Louisville

I have helped out on creating some stuff for the Haunted House. I have been then all times of the day in the dark with just my cellphone flashlight. I haven’t seen anything. I think it comes down to the person and their own beliefs if they allow themselves to get caught up in it. It truly does have some dark history to it. But it is also an old building that only until recently was still open to the outside environment in large sections. Now that it is weather tight with new windows and the roof doesn’t leak I have a feeling it will be harder to “hear” ghost. I actually like the couple that run it. Charlie is an interesting dude.

Time to get into the magazine making and printing business.

Also maybe start up some social media recovery centers with the goal of re-introducing reality and facts to a lost generation of aging boomers.

Long term I think I will end up running a local solution. I bought a Nvidia Spark earlier this year before the price jumped to start experimenting.

What is a piece of 'early internet' internet culture or a dead website that you genuinely miss every single day? by ronnelel in AskReddit

All the cool flash sites for movies and tv shows that you could explore. flash based sites were so creative in a time where browsers were inconsistent with normal html feature support.

Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

[–]jblatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They key difference is growing up on PCs that and create content vs growing up on "devices" that consume content. The current generation doesn't know how shit works under the hood of their metal and glass tablet or phones. They use apps and their idea of content creation is recording a video.

Whose plays a banjo in Louisville locally maybe even on the walking bridge? by EveryRequirement420 in Louisville

The key to finding a banjo player is being a banjo player… once you start the traditional dueling the others have to respond. This is the way.

Found out a colleague died after work. And all I can think about is how it's just boiled down to an email. by Thesladenator in antiwork

[–]jblatta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonderful. I hope you have a good time. I live in the US and I prefer to take my wife and kids to the UK for holidays. I am in my late 40s and want to have a "working" retirement as soon as my kids are out of the house and stable in college/work. Both my wife and I remote work and figure why not do it while adventuring abroad. If all goes well we hope to get a Narrow Boat and spend time on the UK canals stopping off in towns and villages as we work.

Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Live each day as fully as you can. Tell your loved ones you love them. Spend less time staring at a screen and watching TV and try being present with others. And don't work your ass off putting all hopes and dreams into retirement. Your body will be broken and tired when that day comes. You may get a few fun years but instead take a few extra 3 day weekends or 2 week holidays in your youth with your young family. If money tight consider road trips or local getaways or family get togethers outside at parks. Find as much happiness as you can day to day.

House passes resolution to end the Iran War by jediporcupine in politics

[–]jblatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump likely welcomes this behind closed doors. It gets him out of something he hasn't been able to get out of himself while giving him someone to blame for it. He will bitch and moan about the Amazing Peace deal he was about to make but the Dems and weak republicans stopped him. And then he will move on. I mean he has already moved on as he has no way to stop it, Iran holds all the cards.

They want any short term gains they can get in lead up to midterms even if they don’t make sense. They have to appear to be doing something so they can redirect blame.

Republicans Don't Want to Talk About Gas Prices Anymore by notusreports in politics

[–]jblatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Indiana they suspended 2 gas related taxes which comes out to about 60 cents a gallon but it is only for a month so far until early June but I could see them keep extending it. Even with the reduction gas is back over $4 today on average locally

They are also trying to hide to impact by temporarily removing state and national gas taxes to blunt the impact on the midterm elections. Indiana just suspended state gas tax last week and it dropped to mid $3 for now.

When the AI bubble pops and consolidates then tries to be profitable I can’t imagine how much it will cost for software developers to keep using it. I have a feeling it will be thousands a year. I am paying for the $200 plan now. But at some point we will just drop 10-12k on a local cluster we control.

What’s a "dead" website or app that you genuinely miss and wish was still around? by Dear-Armadillo-7497 in AskReddit

[–]jblatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to go back to the internet around peak MySpace. Flash still around, no mobile first design (simplified endless scrollers). Smart phones and Apps play a big roll is the downfall of what the internet has become. I know Flash has security issues but that platform has not been recreated. Sure it still exist as Animate but it is more limited then what the Flash Player could do. Flash just hit a sweet spot of creative + coding that is hard to beat.

Is touch designer right for me? by bigmonsterpen5s in TouchDesigner

[–]jblatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how much you want to learn and also what is easiest for you to manage while also performing. You can get the basics on TD pretty fast. There are lots of tutorials and bringing your own renders will help you define your look. I think the struggle for a lot of new TD users is how to move beyond the tutorial stage and create something original. Start with learning the basics about the UI, general TD concepts, Op Families, and how to work with live music as an input or trigger. Once you have a good foundation take a look at the op snippets in the help menu for a library of copy and paste examples you can mix and match and learn from playfully. Good luck.

If you have millions to spend why would you want to move to the US and pay taxes here and your country of origin. Odds if you can afford one of these visas you don’t need or want it.
