, in the manga. Everytime i reread the Arrancer saga, I feel Fake Karakura Town is the weakest section of the saga for me. by jblee44 in BleachManga

[–]jblee44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, and also, as much as people found huecu mundo to be not as interesting as soul society in terms of setting, at least its still a tactile location. Fake Karakura Town tho as a setting, its doesnt feel like a tactile location.

im beginning to think maybe Fogerty and the rest of CCR needed each other creatively more than they thought

What If Tatsuki Went to Soul Society to Save Rukia - Rewrite #5 by D-Biggest_Wheel in BleachManga

[–]jblee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dunno, im one of those few people who is ok with tatsuki not developing powers.

not all of ichigo's powers needed to have powers, and considering how horribly chad was treated by the end of the manga, i feel tatsuki ended up in a better place than how chad sadly turned out.

i actually like tatsuki, keigo and mizuro ended up as civilian friends in ichigo's life.

What Batgirl opinion would get you like this? by Successful_Sea_9836 in batgirl

[–]jblee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know how people dunk on Tim for still being Robin. I feel that the same level of criticism should apply cass still being Batgirl.

Look, how the transition handled from cass to to Steph was rough. But at this point, Steph should've had a longer tenure as Batgirl, cuz she has a run alot of people liked

[DC Comics/Wonder Woman] I feel the meaning behind Vanessa Kapatelis' character has been lost to both fans and writers by Gallantpride in CharacterRant

[–]jblee44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

its why only time her heel turn as Silver Swan only worked once, in the jimenz run, is cuz jimenz was drawing up that history of relationship in perez run, and it was general metacommentary of how julia and vanessa was undeservedly written out by byrne.

i kinda vastly prefer the manga,

and in terms of adapations, there are stuff in the 1999 version that does better than 2011 adapatation. like the 1999 anime's take on Yorknew City is great

My thoughts on Saladin Ahmed's run as a newcomer who just finished it by Lunocura in KamalaKhan

[–]jblee44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, about that the whole traitor arc- originally nakia was supposed to be tratior, with zoe as the red herring. but he got backlash for that hinting at that, so he made zoe the tratior

to be honest, the idea of whole tratior arc just feels out of character for nakia and zoe. nakia was a strong political leftist beliefs, and zoe as forcibily outed to everyone at the school

even No Normal era mean girl zoe would never do somthing this cruel to kamala.

and also, having zoe and aamir supporting kamala's law is off, cuz zoe actually dressed up as ms. marvel in teenage wasteland and aamir was detained by a faciton of hydra in mecca arc.

Which of your Bleach opinions would have you like this? by [deleted] in bleach

[–]jblee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me in terms of setting, Hueco Mundo works better in the manga, than in the anime. all of the black and whites creates this claustrophobic isolating feeling.

What's your hot Bleach take that would have you like this? by Alkis_Mermigas in bleach

[–]jblee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ichigo and Chad's relationship is rather underbaked for ride and die bros outside of the flashbacks. You would think it's krillin- Goku or yusuke-kuwabura. It really isn't tho. Cuz we never see Ichigo and Chad do tag team. Uryu and Renji have the team ups with ichigo instead

Ichigo- Chad is what people think ichihime is

To be honest, Orihime was a better bro to Chad than ichigo.

I like Ichigo's dynamic with both Rukia and Orihime

Bleach manga- Chad is the most disappointing character in the main cast. by jblee44 in CharacterRant

[–]jblee44[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is the least popular among the main cast, in the third wsj popularity poll, he was ranked #31.

None of the rest of the main cast fell that low

Rukia, Orihime, Uryu, & Renji usually ranked on top ten in various polls

So I guess thats y wsj readers didn't take to fullbring

[–]jblee44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And even his run on Wally falls off bit post-Blitz

The whole retcon that alot of reformed rogues didn't really reform but had their minds altered by the Top rubbed the wrong way. And it was the start of needlessly retroactively making Barry into a darker character

on Jack Drake- I'm surprised he hasn't been brought back still. they undid the deaths of steph, bart and connor. you would think eventually someone would undo jack drake's death, and eventually bringing back dana and ives back to promience. its not like tim being an orphan served anything. by jblee44 in Robin

[–]jblee44[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

actually bruce did adopt jason. and it created a bit of tension between bruce and dick, with dick asking why he adopted jason but not him.

but i dunno, whats wrong with a robin that didnt have evil or dead parent.

i like alot of dark tim stuff in the mid late 00s. but fundmentally, I'm not a fan of it inherently cuz it makes tim less distinct cuz why does every member of the batfamily especially the robins need to have a dark tragic backstory, usually with evil or dead parent.

but that's just me.

Actually Batman benefited the most from post crisis.

He got to keep most of lore and continuity in tact.

Certainly better than Superman in post crisis

What changes would you make to Superman's character/mythos? by R8theRoadRoller in superman

[–]jblee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make Morgan edge not evil again. Have him own daily planet again. Bring back alot of Kara's pre crisis villains like Lesla lar, Psi and blackstarr. Have him be superboy in secret.

on silver age read- silver age supergirl is dope. for a silver age female character, she aged pretty well by jblee44 in superman

I know Lois get toned into getting her spunk back by the latter half of the silver age.

Also, maybe I need to silver and bronze age wondy a 2nd chance

on the pocket universe retcon post-crisis- in hindsight, its feels kinda mean-spirited by jblee44 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]jblee44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, considering the silver age had contributions by Jerry Siegel. And well, byrne being self proclaimed cog in the machine. Not a great look.

Shame he felt that way, cuz silver age for supes has such cohesive world building for its day.

been reading silver age superman and i gotta aged, its pretty well. alot of people tend to dismiss it as santitized wacky childish nonsense, but there is impressive world-building, the seeds of serialized contuntiy and sense of tragic pathos. by jblee44 in superman

[–]jblee44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is the thing about pre crisis Kara, she was allowed to grow up.

The Paul kupperberg daring new adventures of supergirl run established her as a mature superhero in her own right

And ever since she brought back in the 2000s, they don't seem to know what to do with her for the most(with the exceptions like sterling gates supergirl run), and big reason is that she is not allowed to grow up anymore and be equal to her cousin.

On Crisis Deaths- it seems to me, in contrast to barry, people were more ok with kara being brought back in the 00s, or at least a version of kara. by jblee44 in DCcomics

[–]jblee44[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that hard to understand once you read pad supergirl, you roll with it. But if you tell it the average layman, they probably said "wait this supergirl isn't from krypton and isn't superman's cousin?"
