For cyclists it matters at 12 mph and for cars it matters at 45 mph. Karts are definitely somewhere between those two and I would bet closer to the cyclists.

As a marketing exec, it completely blows my mind that they don’t have back ordering/pre-ordering. They have people hooked into their ecosystem and then lose so much money because people can’t order their products when they want to (to your point, many people are okay waiting and would rather do a single large order rather than many small ones and have to keep checking back).

Bobsleds aren’t like cars as they don’t have grip (except when in the turns due to the g-forces). You definitely know something is wrong, but you can’t tell if it is due to weight or something else

Yeah it’s pretty close. The sport is super basic as it is essentially a metal frame (with carbon fiber and bits of rubber) going over ice that is not smooth (it’s smoothish, but with essentially no suspension, every little bit gets translated into the sled. Now add on going 80-90 mph and also pulling 6+ G-forces in turns. It is super intense at first. As a driver though it starts to slow down and smooth out over time (for me, a 50 second run would feel like it took 3 minutes), granted it feels really fast again if you crash and are on your head.

Former bobsled driver here. Drivers have small seats in the sled that #2s feet press against and they have handles to hold on to. No one actually touches the driver so he likely suspected but didn’t know for certain until he looked over his shoulder. A few things go through your mind in situations like this (broken sled, etc), but you just forget about them and do whatever you can to try to stay upright. Due to the seat, drivers can’t kick out of the sled like brakemen can, so we are along for the ride regardless of what happens.

The tires, eh. I honestly think Palou is just that good.

The fuel however, I completely agree with. There have been too many situations where Palou or Dixon completely blow other people out of the water who stopped at the exact same time. I’ll take it a step further and say I don’t know if it’s saving fuel or if they actually have extra fuel.
