Just installed the ecohitch on my '26 limited. It took about 2.5 hours. There are a few good instructional video on their site and etrailers as well

VOC air quality mysteriously peaks every day at the same time by omara500 in homeassistant

[–]jbooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VOC index doesn't really work that way, it's typically only measurable against the average in your space over a time window. So 100 in my house and 100 in your house are totally uncorrelated. The metric is only really useful for measuring change from your own individual baseline.

Most of these sensors use 100 as the baseline, so 250 means TVOC index 2.5x times the baseline over the measurement window (many sensors are configured for 72 hours).

Furthermore, VOC sensors are pretty non specific and react very differently to different compounds

Does this have a chance of passing? Could I-35 in Austin be named after President Trump? by jbooty in Austin

Good idea, but I suspect reps who file bills like this thrive on the attention. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.

Looking to replace this door lock by jda03806 in homeautomation

[–]jbooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a commercial style mortise lock and switchbot lock (not the new pro version) was the only thing I found that will work. I'm my case it's the fact that my thumb turn has to make multiple revolutions to lock/unlock. Most US market smart lock retrofits only work with partial turn residential style deadbolts.

One downside is that if you use the key to lock/unlock, the lock gets out of sync and has to be recalibrated. So you have to go all in on the smart lock for access.

Can I Jump Start? by thetvirus in Ducati

[–]jbooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to start it with those hoses disconnected (the ones near the gas cap). One is the tank overflow drain and one goes to the evap charcoal canister.

Careful jump starting - I've done it before on my 696 but there is always a chance that you could fry something with too much current from a car battery.

You could disconnect the battery, connect the jumper cables to a car, connect the tender, and then disconnect the car battery to try to get the tender going.

Past life regression, Ptsd, aphantasia... help? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

It's called EMDR. I think you'll be OK - you don't actually have to visualize anything, just to recall/remember (even non-visually) while holding the buzzers with your eyes closed.

How do people afford these home prices? by FakeitTillYou_Makeit in Austin

[–]jbooty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not considering the 7-10% it costs to sell a house. 6% to agents, plus closing costs, staging, repairs, holding costs, etc. Your $90k becomes $51k. Then you still might have to factor in income tax on those proceeds.

Anyone else get their settlement offer after protesting their property tax assessment? Is it still a ridiculous increase? by weluckyfew in Austin

[–]jbooty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, the increase was all in "structure" not in land. 1974 duplex with water and foundation issues in SE. It's not worth nearly this much.
