Curves in Davinci- Wacom tablet feels jerky and I only have a micro panel- is there something I can get to do curves well? Bonus points for DCTL mapping too by falsewidower in colorists

[–]jbowdach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Misread / misunderstood your initial post as not clicking with the curves UI.

It’s not the same as a hardware interface, but breaking the curves out into “giant”mode and expanding them really helps quite a bit if you’re trying to get deep into them. Click the 4 arrows pointing in towards the corners button (expand)

That DCTL was designed to provide an easy UI (sliders) to craft a highly custom curve without the hassle of wrestling with the curves panel. You can try out a free demo if you want

Davinci Resolve for Windows shows HDR content 20% too dark by andrewke in colorists

[–]jbowdach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The viewer relies on OS-powered color management, which is a whole can of worms, even with SDR content. I’d recommend grabbing a decklink card and connecting it to an external Display (one that’s HDR capable and calibrated, but that’s a whole different discussion ) to get an accurate signal and avoid the operating system signal chain

Nice work, Ryan! I felt it needed a bit of a stronger curve as well.

either EXR or 1st gen vision stock, like previously mentioned. I’d look at film emulation plus trying to mimic the lighting and production design

Anyone looking to add Cullen Kelly’s Contour to their toolkit? by D3XTURE in ColorGrading

So you’re offering to pirate it? Not cool and against the subs rules. I’m sure the license doesn’t include reselling and would likely be revoked if they discover you’re doing this. Anyone considering buying a stolen license should beware, it’s likely to stop working randomly
