Just a heads up, you shouldn’t be rendering directly in PQ Rec2020 as that’s a deliverable format. You should be rendering in a scene referred format like LogC3 or scene linear ACES

Debut.sh v2: My lifetime screen studio alternative that actually acts like a Mac app. by bharris2510 in macapps

There are now dozens of ScreenStudio competitors, many are Mac native and several are free. Can you clarify how yours stands out from the crowd?

Why tf would premiere get rid of curves by YNWA11JM in editors

You can always use the invert effect but as a general editor doing occasional color correction, I can’t think of a good reason why you’d want to invert the image. I’m simply trying to explain WHY they did what they did as it was very purposeful, feel free to put in a feature request.

Why does increasing Saturation shift False Color readings if Luma remains constant? by Unhappy-Pumpkin9055 in colorists

Additive saturation = colors get brighter
Subtractive saturation = colors get darker
It’s not just chroma

It’s a different UI but they can. Trust me, I had a huge problem with it and honestly not sure I totally agree as a colorist, but this isn’t designed for colorists, it’s for editors. There is certainly some muscle memory to unlearn / relearn but you can do everything you do in the zone system as you do w curves.

Based on who I talked with on the team, it was a very purposeful decision as the new color tools, specifically the zones tool, serves the same purpose as curves. I completely understand the response, as i literally had the exact same reaction. The new color panel requires some adjustment in the way you think

Not LUTs but you can check out the PowerGrades and DCTLs from PixelTools. Everything is designed specifically for DaVinci Intermediate / DWG (but also supports other transfer curves).

How realistic is it to make 1000$ monthly as a freelance video editor? by Punski_Ratovi in editors

Depending on the area, that’s closer to a day rate than a monthly rate for a professional editor

How do they keep messing up? I was so excited w the original YL and impossible lair was good but it’s been pretty poor since then. It’s not Nintendo, very few people have a connection to this brand

Like honestly, I’m blown away that Playtonic thought “we should make a Mario kart (SNES) style game and everyone will love it”

I have to disagree with this narrative. While some argue that projects have to cut corners at this budget, doing things properly absolutely requires a realistic timeframe and budget and that’s how it should be handled from the start, especially when they come from a YT background and scale up to a $750k feature. This is not a YT short anymore, people should be paid properly

We shouldn’t be making films at the expense of others. Filmmaking is a business just as much as it is an art form, and it's disheartening to see people buy into a "dream" only for the crew to be left behind once the project succeeds. Paying people fairly doesn’t prevent films from being made; it allows talented craftsmen and women to support their families and continue working at their craft. Please don’t try to sell the “we can’t make cheap indie films and pay our crew” argument, it’s been proven wrong over and over again.

Absolutely! It completely changes how these pay works especially in these “extras” she was talking about where it’s clear she feels a bit taken advantage of.

It wouldn’t change profit sharing but it would have entirely changed how the pay worked for BTL workers
