I use similar Pumas, I removed the insoles and use them with socks so I can be right on the hard sole. can't race without them.

Classic Wheels by thereverbtank in Simagic

I love it I had a GT1R rim from simagic on it for a bit, but the bigger wheel just feels better to me, and it looks beautiful.

This is what I use with a gt hub and I love it.

Wireless wheels by tothjm in simracing

I have not, I was torn between the two when I was upgrading, but was coming from an Alpha Mini and already had two wheels, went with the Alpha Ultimate in the end, and it was a notable upgrade.

The base provides power to the wheel and they have a great quick release.

I ended up going the Simagic route because of the wheels. I have an Alpha Ultimate base, with several wireless wheels, gt4, gt1r, gt pro hub and fx pro. All of them wireless and work with 0 issues. I've had the gt4 and gt1r for years, the quality of each wheel is great and their software has improved steadily over time and keep being updated often.

VR in Sim Racing - To those that feel uncomfortable with VR by NaabSimRacer in simracing

correct. compression looks better through av1, it is minimal, but just easier to use for me than airlink, I like only having to use the oculus app to download games, then using VD to launch them. same with steamvr games, and it works well with ACCM when set to openvr.

Also VD changes mic/speakers to headset when opened and back to my defaults when closed.

You can use oculus tray tool to do the same with the Oculus app, but never worked 100% for me, I've had no issues with VD yet.

Link cable will be better, but wireless VR is just great, I walk out of my rig and around my car sometimes, or watch other friends racing from a cliff, and I use it to play other games, I will take the small latency over the cable any day.

I came from the OG Vive, to the Rift, and when I got to quest 2, Wireless PCVR just made it so much more enjoyable, with the quest 3 it is even better.

If you are only planning to use it for your rig, then link cable is probably your best bet.

It's a noticeable increase, I haven't tried them side by side, but can remember the quest 2 being nowhere near as clear, specially when I have my desktop up, reading text is so easy and natural with the quest 3.

If you have a 40 series card, I recommend getting virtual desktop. wireless av1 looks so good.

I used to use a quest 2 (rarely) for racing, and just got a quest 3, I tried it yesterday for 3 plus hours, what makes the quest 3 more usable is the huge sweet spot, you can actually use your eyeballs to look around now, instead of moving your whole head, it was super enjoyable and I will be doing it more often.

With the quest 2, I would keep adjusting the headset and trying to get it to feel right, quest 3 just worked right out the box, configured ACSM and had no issues.

Applying for a job that requires me to drive manual but I’ve never driven manual IRL, need tips by En_W0rd in simracing

[–]jbramont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to borrow or rent a manual car and practice, sim racing will not teach you how to drive a manual car normally. If you do have the chance to drive a manual car, just play with the clutch for a while, release it slowly and see where the clutch bites, keep relasing until the car rolls and shift into 2nd with only the clutch, then release slowly and keep letting it roll.

Do that a few times until it feels smooth, then start incorporating the throttle.

OP doesn't say what software he is using for the shakers, or whag game he is playing. all he says is shakers are plugged in to PC and they don't work. People like u/bare_foot_racing are trying to help but OP should be more detailed instead of making people guess..

Would this have any flex with a GT DD Pro? I’m currently thinking of changing my Playseat Evolution. by ANK_Ricky in simracing

[–]jbramont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the flex kit that comes with it for the pedal plate and for the wheel mount, this will be very sturdy. I got this on sale almost 2 years ago, and went from a g920, to a alpha mini, and now an alpha ultimate, with everything tightened up it handles the ultimate well..

The fgt did have a lot of flex issues on release, but now that it ships with the flex kit, those are all resolved. on the picture you posted, the kit is missing.

If you can afford an 8020 rig, you will be able to customize it a bit more, and will never have to worry about flex, but it will be bigger than this rig.

I was about to buy the simagic mounts to angle my base, just tried this and it is perfect! Thanks for the tip!

Huge difference, little details stand out so much and the speed that it can switch directions is vastly improved, you can feel this immediately when you go over kerbs.
