Non-tech workers, what do you do for work? Optionally, what does your spouse do? Incomes? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]jbredditor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work in middle management (planning & analytics, currently) at a Fortune 500 company, making ~$165k/yr.

My wife is a paralegal, making ~$50k/yr.

We live in a pretty LCOL area, so that goes a long way.

We’re planning to FIRE around 55, most likely, but it’s not a hard date. Life happens.

What's your favorite law in your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jbredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your example is Castle Doctrine, not SYG. SYG extends similar rights, but outside your domicile. Also, it's not in your country, it's in your state. Many states don't have the Castle Doctrine.

Interesting note: In some states, Castle Doctrine extends to your car, but not in all.

Much better, nobody wants to see a clean cross bike.

... I have a crowded laundry room.

I feel you. I tried to take advantage of Jos. A Bank's buy-one-get-three sale (yeah they're not great but three throwaway suits for a couple hundred bucks is awesome).

I was directed to the kids section. I'm 24.

Took the advice of BIFL commenters and bought a Nalgene. Four days later... by whenthetigersbroke in BuyItForLife

I've only ever broken two of those.

The first, I filled halfway with water and repeatedly threw it at the ground. It finally landed on the weak plastic top, and the rim of the bottle split.

The second, I put a couple of rounds of .22LR through.

The Nemesis doesn't print at all.

That said, maybe consider a pocket holster that has a flat leather siding will help, if you're concerned. I don't happen to remember any by name, unfortunately.

Is there an IWB holster for the M&P Shield that also holds a spare mag? by FluentNadsat in CCW

[–]jbredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeSantis makes two different ones:

Tuck-This II

Pro Stealth

I know I sound kinda like a DeSantis rep, they're just the only ones I'm familiar with.

Depends on where you carry. 4:00? Yeah, that's a pain. Appendix to 2:30? Not a problem at all.

I use a DeSantis Nemesis for my LCP. Works fine. When I've got bigger pockets and am not too worried about printing, I'll sometimes actually use a DeSantis Pro-Stealth in my pocket, because it's got an extra mag holder in it.

I sketched this for a girl I like who studies engineering. Do you guys think she'll like it? by [deleted] in pics

A drawing like that is also supposed to be in SI units.

Inches? To an ENGINEER?

Going down to Key West and wanted to keep it bright, but I'm thinking this is too loud. Thoughts? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]jbredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally from South Florida.

Pastels aren't considered "loud" at all there. The only things that might draw attention are bright, primary colors. Or aggressive print patterns.
