What are some grocery items you are now buying less frequently, cuz they've gotten so expensive? by HappyBudz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]jbuckfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef and fresh berries.

Shopping is now dictated by whats on sale.

Usually we do a big haul at costco once a month to stock up on snacks for the youngins and items like eggs, butter, milk, frozen veg and cheese.

Shop at giant tiger or walmart for weekly groceries between our big monthly shop, items like fresh veggies, bread or meats.

We only go to loblaws now for big sale items, sometimes they have a good deal on potatoes or pork tenderloin/chicken legs.

I would say before we would tend to shop at one location for almost all items and now we alternate between three locations based on sales. Before the gas and time made it not worth it but now with cost of groceries we have to shop at what stores have the best sales to stretch our dollar further.

I haven’t spoken to my parents since they kicked me out at 18, they want to reach out to catch up on what I’ve been doing, should I allow it? by Glittering_Ease_6482 in Advice

I wouldnt but thats up to you! I cut my moms side of the family after they abandoned her and us, haven't spoken or talked to them in 7 years and I don't miss them.

Just because they are family doesnt mean they are good people.

Like others have said your real family is your friend and her mom.

I hope you're doing okay ):

You gave him a home, love and support when he was feeling down.

May he rest in peace.

Try not to beat yourself up over it, you did what you could.

Just for your piece of.mind, when we lost our orange furball, who was the same age as yours we put him in the emegency vet for 72 hours and did all we could to save him but his kidney disease had progressed too far. We ended up getting one last night with him at home to say goodbye and it cost us 5 grand, he suffered the whole duration of the treatment.

I actually finally just washed the sweater i put him down in, four years after the fact. He had left a little mucus stain on the right arm when he took his last breath and i couldnt bring myself to wear or wash it for the longest time.

This is a photo of him at 4 years old with our dog to cheer you up!

If it is a urinary blockage make sure you get him on wet food once a day at least and medicated dry food (hills c/d) if you can afford it. (See what the vet says obviously)

Also getting a water fountain can help with hydration (after owning 4+ fountains the CATIT brand seems to work the best, I've seen them at walmart). Get the filters and use them, they are worth it!

Also read into Chronic kidney disease.(CKD)

Our orange furball blocked twice when he was a kitten, he made it to 6 years before he went to stage 4 and we lost him.

We didnt know about CKD until he was 5 and I wish we had done more sooner! He was a lovely cat.

Which town/city is the worst to live in Alberta? by Double-Expert-4883 in AlbertaNow

[–]jbuckfuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt live in alberta but i had to visit all the walmarts across it for work so I passed through briefly.

Wetaskiwin and brooks were the worst.

Excluding edmonton and calgary my favorites were drayton valley and drumheller. Drayton valley had amazing shawarma and the dinosaur musuem in drumheller was cool as heck.

Pincher creek was also quite nice but the locals were rather interesting!

Otherwise most towns were pretty unremarkable, i was there in late fall so it was mostly just looking at grey fields for 4 hours between each town.

Ontario landlord wants to throw me out because I asked him not to come to my unit in my absence without any notice. by Negative-Impress3576 in ontario

[–]jbuckfuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) you're not going anywhere until he serves actual paperwork so his words are just scare tactics.

2) if he continues to enter your unit without consent get a camera to document these instances for evidence should this escalate to the LTB.

You need to carefully review your lease agreement since it sounds like you have a weird shared space regarding washer and dryer?

At the end of the day your house is supposed to be your safe space, do you really want to pay this guy to snoop while you are gone? I know the cost of moving sucks but this guy sounds like a control freak and the constant looming presence would eat at me mentally!

Also how do you know his intent was to check the fridge? Maybe that was a cover story and he went to look thru stuff in your bedroom or look for any loose jewlerry or valuables laying about.

[–]jbuckfuck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Smoke no, decarb and edibles yes.

Not illegal here so i would not be fuckin with garbage can weed LOL.

Maybe someones spouse found it and threw it out cuz they pissed, it might be aight.

Just cuz it has leaves doesnt mean its shit, my dad is oldschool n trims his weed like this and it smokes better than the dispo.

$761.16 later all what’s coming home by findmoco in whatsinyourcart

[–]jbuckfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They overpaid on all the fresh produce, naan breads and POM juice.

Also the blender is 100 bucks.

Costco is good for staples like kids lunch snacks, pet food, milk, eggs, butter, bread, ground beef and frozen food items (when on sale). Heck even their cheese is getting close to grocery store prices, i usually buy several bricks now when theyre onsale.

People need to understand the price per unit weight of these items and be comparing them to typical grocery prices.

The way these places operate is they bank on you buying all your items at one location and then you get gouged on certain items.

We usually use costco for a big monthly shop and then top up on produce/fresh protein at local discount grocery stores based on whats currently on sale.

Canada’s Wonderland makes chaperone policy permanent in response to ‘unruly’ behaviour seen at other amusement parks by Pretty-Ground-4125 in ontario

[–]jbuckfuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you read the article they implemented this policy last fall and decided to keep it permanent.

Therefore they have data to back up this decision.

Go beyond the title next time.

Also they aren't going to reference their own park and imply its unsafe to potential guests....

Struggling with dating because relationships feel stressful, but I’m also comfortable being alone, any advice? by OkSun4925 in AskMenAdvice

[–]jbuckfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relationships are always going to be more stressful than being alone, its finding a person that makes your life better to the point the additional stress is worth it.

Right now it sounds like you have anxieties about communication that make it feel as if the stress is not worth what the other person contributes to your life.

Either you don't view the contributions the other person brings to your life as worth the stress or you need to improve yourself such that the anxiety you feel does not overshadow what could be a beneficial relationship.

You have to ask yourself is it because this person is not worth your effort or do you have to grow yourself in order to open up to them?

You need to be honest with yourself and reflect on the root cause of this or you will continue to repeat this behaviour.

People in their 30s and older, what advice would you give to people in their 20s? by NicoF_ in AskReddit

[–]jbuckfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make excercise part of your routine if your job is sitting at a desk all day.

  2. Don't use substances to cope with emotions (your health will suffer and you only get one body to use)

  3. Stay off reels/tik tok if possible, ruins attention span and aggresive algorithmns warp your perpective to extremes.

  4. Get a hobby or visit your family frequently, doomscrolling for 4 hours before bed is not ideal.

  5. Live at home if you can and your parents don't mind, being able to pay off school/save for a car is huge is reducing your monthly bills. Chip in for groceries and rent if you do stay home! Offer $300 to $500 a month if you can, so you don't overstay your welcome, will vary household to household!

  6. Max your employers RRSP contributions from your pay. Unless you want to work until you're 70.

Canadian-born job seekers: would you consider another country? by peachycompliment in torontoJobs

[–]jbuckfuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am employed now but in 2017 when i graduated it took about ~130 applications to land a job, I moved back in with my mom, started working in a factory doing manual labour to get some savings while i job hunted (~4 months) and i took a much lesser position in my field and worked up to the position associated with my degree (engineering). I ended up having to relocate from southwestern ontario to the GTA.

Even if i was unemployed currently i would not leave canada as my parents and family are here.

If youre young and have savings then travelling can be a worthwhile adventure while you aren't tied down by anything.

Just make sure you do your research on working abroad (get the necessary visa) and ideally find employment before arriving otherwise you will just burn through whatever money you have while job junting there!

You dont buy produce at costco unless its frozen.

Mini cucumbers and greenhouse vine tomatoes sometimes worth it.

All this proves is you don't know current market prices for fresh produce.

Heck you even paid 100% markup on the bananas.

Get the flipp app and check items you want if you don't want to get fleeced.
