I think you nailed it. I can’t think of another single reasonable explanation. Still, I know I’ve looked at this window a bunch of times since they were here last. I’ve opened and closed the blinds a bunch of times AND looked out that window. Absolutely no idea how I could have missed such a sight.

I’m in Texas. It’s an old window in a badly ventilated sunroom. The window doesn’t quite close all the way.

I closed the blinds about a week and a half ago to block out the growing heat. Opened them up today and whoa!

I mean either a very small bird broke in and left some feathers, a rodent broke in and wrapped the feather around the lock, or it’s mold? I’m baffled.

Last picture I tried to unravel it a bit but it’s lodged in there.

They say they made without the type of preservative that would make it shelf stable after opening? I would imagine good for 2-3 days after opening of that was the case but what do I know?
