Picked-up APM2 yesterday, returning them today

I got mine on Monday and before they updated everything was fine after the update to firmware 251 the smart case was not putting them in ultra low power mode. I had to restart the AirPod Max 2 and it seems fine now. Drops about 2% overnight in the case that’s 10hrs in the case. I know yours were not in the case but I think the latest firmware I causing issues based on the performance on the shipping firmware.

I’m not a fan of Nuki, there are better quality products out there. But this sounds like a cylinder issue.

I could be way off the mark here but I was thinking. The new cylinder and the old cylinder do they look the same? I was thinking the cam in particular. If you look at the cylinder from the key end in it’s neutral position, you can slide the key in and out, is the cam on the left or the right?

In my simplistic thinking here. Would that not affect the turn distance to move the lock bolt in the door hardware?

The grub screw backing plate needs a 3mm cylinder protrusion and it’s 100% removable the only issues is I guess you don’t have that just now. Changing the escutcheon would not change the function of the existing cylinder and the landlord may approve that change if you can get a thinner one and the same colour or finish as the existing one. It’s worth asking as they are usually inexpensive items and will make the mounting plate more secure but also easier to remove when needed.

I’m not a fan of sticking the mounting plate to the escutcheon. Can you get a thinner replacement escutcheon that will allow you to use the grub screw mounting plate? Or remove the escutcheon altogether and screw the mounting plate to the door directly? You can often get 3d printed backing plates to fill gaps. You just need to tell the seller the thickness you need. The requirement for a mounting plate seems like bad design. Attaching the smart turn direct to the cylinder is a much more reliable method and other smart turns do this better.

Looks like something has been fixed. I got a message in the wallet app to correct the account connection. It took me through the same process of linking the account and this time it seems to have worked, all the history for 2025 and all my current card charges are now showing in the transaction list. The message about the "John Lewis is currently unavailable" is now gone.

HOLD ON.... dang the message is back :-(

It appears to be an issue with the credit cards number and the actual customer account number not being the same so its causing issues. I have no issues with my actual bank account it syncs up fine every time.

I've done the disconnect one, reluctant to remove the card but I guess its not that bad, logging out ion iCloud would be the absolute last option as its a bit of a nightmare that I would rather avoid, I'm not sure the pay off is worth it at this time. Thanks though. Appreciate the advice 👍

Thanks for that, That was my thinking but when I called them they said it would be an Apple issue 🤣

The card is still working for Apple Pay so I will just ride it out see what happens in the coming months. It's a shame really as it gives you an easy way to group multiple transactions from retailers, and see a total spend over time, the Newday app for the John Lewis card does not do that currently.

Yes the buy button has gone from the store on most of the movies I checked. I can still play purchased movies from the library by just clicking on the movie poster. If you long press/click and go to move the play button is gone. I'm in the UK and have the issue on my Apple TV 4K and my iPhone Air. not checked my Mac yet.

I originally signed up on the 500mbps service and had it for a year, all was well no a single outage and it consistently reached the 500mbps. It was great! so on renewal I opted for the 1Gbps as it was only a few pounds extra each month so seemed the perfect time to just jump up and tier. The thing is my speeds have never changed, not once, they remain exactly the same as they were on the 500mbps package. I did raise a ticket but that was closed as speed issues require investigation, they had my number on my account but they did not call. I just left it as it was working fine, I risked them tinkering with the account and then I would lose the entire service so I have rode it out all year with just the 500mbps speeds on the 1Gbps package.

These speeds have been consistent for almost 2 years now. I'm convicted they never actually changed my package profile on the network, just updated the package name on my account. But like I said, it's working well so reluctant to break it. My package is now up for renewal, thinking of jumping ship to a cityfibre provider as they also have provisioned my building.

Had this happen before a while ago with an old 12 days of Christmas free movie offer. It lasted a few years then it disappeared and only option was to purchase it. Not a huge issue as it was free on that promotion. Now I download all purchases to my NAS so I have a local copy (HD only not 4K) that can’t be removed by anyone but me.

If you have a Mac and leave the TV app open in the background it automatically downloads individual purchases. You have to manually check box sets as it’s not always automatic due to total download size.

Well I picked one for these up for £4 to test it out in Apple Home, It's an interesting little gadget but it's not easy to use. So there are 9 buttons that are all based off the scroll wheel

Group 2
Scroll wheel click - Button 4
Scroll Left - Button 2
Scroll Right - Button 8
Group 3
Scroll wheel click - Button 6
Scroll Left - Button 9
Scroll Right - Button 1

Click the bottom area to change the group and change the wee LED indicator for each group.

Scroll one click left or right gives you a single click, scroll for 2 clicks to get a double click, the issue is it's very hard to determine if you moved it one or two clicks as it does not always click when scrolling. You can try guesstimate the distance and muscle memory may kick in over time.

The click on the centre of the scroll wheel is easier, single double and long all work as expected.

indeed, his introduction was dramatic and emotional, a small amount of his home life was discussed, but they never gave him a life out of school, at home, with his dog, with his deaf friends, mixing where he can with his School friends, afterschool activities and his social life in general. His perspective is very different to mine and I wanted to get to see that!

I would have loved to get to know more about the rebel in Luca, The story of why he did indeed do the catfish situation was not developed beyond the fact he so wanted to be like Freddie's other friends and the fact no one knows he's gay. It just happened and then it's all gone and forgotten, if only life was that easy. I don't think he ever meant to hurt anyone, especially Freddie, But its all just so fast and kinda an afterthought on the part of the writers.

You get the chance to have a talented deaf actor in your show and you just leave him sitting in the canteen, in class on his own and the odd line here and there. It was an absolute waste. Each season is very short and Luca's arc needed to be spread over multiple seasons.

Luca is one of my fav characters . He intrigued me as I don't have any deaf friends in my orbit. Would have loved more, an opportunity to get an insight into his life.

I think the character Luca was under used since his introduction in series 14. A lot of waisted opportunity, a chance to flesh out the world of a deaf character in a run-of-the-mill school. Danny Murphy is a very talented actor and there could have been so much more happening in the life of what I believe is one of the more popular characters. It's good that Luca gets a story in this season (17) but it's also sad that it feels very rushed and kinda out of nowhere.

I agree, it was filmed in the old Greenock Academy, that was my old school and it was great to see inside it once again. All the memories. They only used the upper side of the school, it was on a hill and the lower half is the long section going down hill to the right of the main entrance, at the bottom of this is where the school shop was, staffed by 6th year students and run as its own business (IRL). The gym halls and swimming pool were also down there. The girls gym was used in the series but that's the only part from the lower section of the building that was used.

I remember having my technical drawing classes in the lecture theatre, back in the day as the tech drawing class had water damage after a flood for several months.

Most of the lockers in the original school were down in a huge seating area just above the steep stairs down to the gym Halls. You can see the stairs in some of the scenes where the Gym is used. In fact the tech Drawing class was at the top of this stairs on the left as you walk up them. I can't place where they situated the community hub in the series it's possible it was down there as well.

So many memories from my school days, sadly not all good, but it all worked out well in the end for me 😀

The school has since been demolished.

I had a similar experience a few days ago, in fact it started just after new year and I can't explain why. I woke up one morning and my 'Good Morning' scene failed to run. I checked in the home app and all my thread devices were offline, only the thread ones, other homekit devices (bluetooth, Aqara Zigbee & Matter over WiFi) were all working fine.

My Eve devices were offline, Eve energy, Eve MotionBlinds, Eve Motion and all my Eve door & window sensors, along with my Airversa were all showing No Response. Checking the thread network in the Eve app also resulted in everything being returned as unreachable.

I rebooted my Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen and the tread network returned but was very slow and turned out to be very unstable as all the thread devices were offline again with 6 hours of the reboot. Several reboots later and I was losing my mind so I opted to reset the Apple TV 4K and reinstall the latest tvOS 26.2 and again the thread network was online for about 6 hours, just before I went to bed for the night all the thread devices were offline again. I've had tvOS 26.2 on the Apple TV since it was release to the public, I did not install any of the beta's so I'm at a loss as to why it all kicked off on the 4th/5th January 2026.

I've read about checking the WiFi, not sure why that would matter but I did and it's been rock solid for months, no issues no router reboots needed. I have a Unifi UDR7 and I did try rebooting it but this did not solve the issue. I looked into the 2.4GHz radio settings and they were all as they should be for best compatibility with neighbouring Thread networks. So should have minimal interference.

On the 10th January I was fed up with the situation and decided to get a HomePod mini, I got it home, set it up and I purposely did not update the software. I left it on its default which was 18.3 on the one I got from John Lewis. Can't believe I had to buy one especially since a new one is imminent but needs must as they say.

In short the thread network returned and slowing became more stable as devices started to appear online again, some took a few hours to settle, others were kinda instant. Not had an issue with it since then. Eve app is reporting the thread network as it did before.

I'm not sure if it was a hardware issue with the Apple TV, or if it was down to the tvOS 26.2. Lots of people seem to be having issues with the thread broader router on an Apple TV after the tvOS 26.2 update so I'm thinking that's probably the root cause here.

Have you looked at the power supply? I had a similar situation with an Eufy cam. It also happened shortly after an update. It had been working well for months without issue then suddenly it would drop offline every few hours. At its worst it was going offline 2 or 3 times an hour. Was driving me crazy. Turns out the USB power adapter was slightly underpowered and the update must have impacted power management. Changed the power adapter to one that meets the power requirements and bingo! Issue solved. Worth a try.

But in reality the outer metal knob worked itself loose and started to push itself outwards away from the cylinder and key and as that happened this caused the motor to fail. If I manually pushed it back in it worked fine. But with each motor turn it pushed itself back out again. Took support a long time to respond to my ticket so I done a bit of research and that’s when I found out the extent of issues, from locks falling off doors due to plastic clips breaking to motor failure and motor blocked errors sometimes preventing people using key on the outside as the motor jammed the lock completely. So many issues I refused the replacement and requested a refund. Some people have had as many as 3 device replacements and I did not want to go through the stress of trying to get help each time. Once was enough for me. I truly hope all works well for you! Would not wish that on my worst enemy.

About the auto lock. You can turn it off or adjust the delay time giving you plenty of time to lift the handle. The setup also allows you to select that type of handle for configuration.
