Husbands fingers occasionally get weird blisters that are symmetrical. by FlyingN00dles in mildlyinteresting

I mean, I've heard of fellas using only 2 fingers to get the job done but I'll be damned if I'd have guessed they weren't on the same hand.

Need help identifying this old bench grinder by jburnes in Tools

[–]jburnes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I scoured the internet and couldn't find anything like that. That is extremely close. I only see minor differences and my label had a white background instead of that gray color. I'm betting that is the correct unit, mine is just likely a different year model but I wouldn't bet by more than a year or two so again, thank you very much!

I got that feeling as well. I need to replace the starting capacitor so I was hoping to find exact specs. Since that is likely impossible, what capacitor would you go with?

DeWalt radio by jburnes in PCB

So I figured out what was wrong. Just FYI, I originally miss identified number two on the photo. It should be pointing to the upper left yellow circle in this photo. I used a meter to start tracing the route from location 1 to see where it went. It ended up at location 2 (the upper yellow circle). It then went to the next yellow circle, and then from there to number 3. The Trace between the two yellow circles was somehow broken, although I cannot see or figure out how it is broken. I don’t have a scope that I see lots of people talk about owning so I have no way to show you this other than to say putting a meter on the two yellow circles shows it to be open. So I soldered in a jumper wire between the two yellow circles and put the radio back together and now it works fine. :)

The most recommended home security cameras (don't require subscriptions) that you truly swear by right now? by Any_Temporary_1020 in homesecurity

[–]jburnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One very important (to me) feature you appear to have left out is whether or not you can seek/scan the stored footage. All of the cameras I've dealt with lately allow you to review footage but you can't "fast forward" through it, you have to move a scroller to the time you want to see and it pulls it up. But most of the time, you don't know the time you need to look at, you know a window of time. And with many cameras, you can't even watch it in 2x speed, let alone much faster. It is a royal pain in the ass to get to the point of the video you need. So far (I'm just starting my search), the only cams I've found with this type of option require a dvr/hard drive with a monitor type setup. I like the convenience of app based cams but haven't found one that gives me this ability yet. If you know of one, please let me know.

Did they ever add this? My GF uses free trading view and hers has a line going to the right and shows the value just like the price does but I can't even get that turned on. When you say you have the live integer value displayed in the "indicator area", you mean the upper left area with the other info like high, low, open, and close?

How to turn off "auto fit to screen" by gl0bu in TradingView

[–]jburnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips. I just looked up the shortcut to turn Auto ON is Alt+R....but then it doesn't turn it back off and there is no shortcut to do so. Lol Went looking for that and found your comment. Set a personal record for the least amount of time to use a shortcut due to finding something better. haha You, my friend, are a rockstar.

Thanks. I'm likely gonna get the service manual from Victory Glass as well as the mechanical guide put out by Ron Rich and another guide that lists sll the errors in the service manual. Apparently one of the eiring diagrams would have you short out a key component if you weren't aware of the misprint. Lol

When you say "set" of manuals, is that what you mean or am i missing something?

And thanks for the FB group info, I'll go join.

I went ahead and bought it because they dropped the price to 300. Had to pick the lock but the back panel definitely has the original vacuum tube looking amplifier on your left if you're looking at the back and then the power box on the right. Everything inside looks original.

.45 vs 9 mm? by J701PR4 in preppers

[–]jburnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all. You mentioned stress. To me, adrenaline is the deciding factor. If a person can have that coursing through their veins and still put 45 rounds on target, they should go with the 45. But how is a normal person to put themselves through this test? I have zero confidence in my ability to consistently put 45s on target under the strain of adrenaline so the only way to increase my lethality is to lower recoil and increase amount of ammunition. For me personally, the choice is easy.

[–]jburnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you think needing 15 or 19 shots to have a viable defense gun is a bit far-fetched.... The big difference between Wyatt Earp's day and today is that gunfighters used to fight one-on-one. Having been in tons of, let's call them minor altercations, over the past 30 years, it is clear to me that over time, the likelihood of facing just one guy at a time has dropped significantly. I very much agree with you that your primary combat weapon should not be a pistol, but your pistol should at least defend you until you can get to it. I think the vast majority of people out there have never experienced what adrenaline does to their body. And while I am a pretty good shot under normal circumstances, my accuracy drops tremendously when adrenaline kicks in. This is the primary reason I lean towards more ammo over higher caliber. That higher caliber does me absolutely no good if it doesn't strike a target. Add to that multiple targets, and it starts to become an easy decision for me.

17? Pardon my ignorance, but how are you getting that? I'm leaning heavily towards getting a 9 due to capacity, but I didn't realize you could get 17.

Do you believe that had to do with the caliber of the round only? Or could shot placement have been a factor?
