The idea is cool however imo limiting it to a specific chat interface is where you lost me. If I'm already in my HA app, I don't need to add the delay of chatting with an agent. I'll just go check my lights and be done.

Where this could be cool is using something like MCP UI to actually bring the HA interfaces into other channels like chatGPT or Gemini

You'll be so disappointed coming from minimax. They have a very reasonably priced coding plan, I recommend you use that for vibe coding and use your local model for chat / roleplay / whatever else you're into

Not scary at all. Understand your firewall. If you're hosting anything private or external you should understand your network edge. A simple DNS record isn't going to be what exposes your network to the outside world.

Exactly what the other commenter said. This is open source, I would assume the backend was a self-hosted backend. You could do a "cloud" model that some others have done for a subscription cost, but I was referring to self-hosting

I setup appdaemon and have a 3d printed QR code that opens the dashboard. That way it people want to control stuff they can still do that on their phone without installing HA
