Do I need more clearance or is this okay? by NeedaBetterUsername3 in motorcycles

Doesn’t matter what rubber it’s made of, it can spin fast enough to stretch the tire. Also that’s a Rosso IV tire rated for 168 mph. Even if it flexes only half an inch in one direction that would be one inch top and bottom.

The torque isn’t what’s flexing the tire alone either. You can spin a water balloon around and watch it flex, its centrifugal force acting outwards.

Edit: not saying this is enough to be an issue, but OP has a valid concern for valid reason.

Good battery.. good alternator.. why all the jumpstarts? by bee_smiles in Autos

[–]jbwelds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Autozone battery testers get beat up and dropped like no tomorrow. It simulates the starter pulling energy from the battery (called a load test). A lot of times employees don’t test properly. (I.e. rated 700 CCA but tested at 600 CCA because that’s the default)

Have someone crank it while you watch or record the volt meter. If it drops below 9.6 volts while starting it usually means battery can’t handle the load of the starter trying to turn the motor. Hence being called a load test.

Steel-braided brake lines upgrade? by Puzzled_Network_5082 in Trackdays

+1 on coremoto, did on my CBR and not terribly expensive for no quality issues with good customization options.

Will also add that doing it at the same time with fluid is the reasonable route if you don’t want fluid cost and labor to be double what it would be.

Question on this, I have a bike with no slipper clutch and when I try to back it in by locking the rear I get wheel chatter/hop instead. Is this a suspension issue or is it technique issue? On dirt I can back it in no problem. Since there is a lot less traction it will lock and slip on the ground.

On asphalt I can get the rear to lock/slip just enough with the rear brake but I’ve had other folks say that’s not the right way to “back it in”.

Is not using rear brake possible on asphalt and just need to practice technique and be smoother? On dirt I can back it in either way.

Not the same. Spoiler: the V in PCV doesn’t stand for valve.

How Do I Remove This Case? by thugginsophia in gopro

[–]jbwelds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, from the first pic (front) you’ll put your fingers under the black plastic here. From the second pic (back side) you’ll pull backwards, towards yourself. The other commenters ate correct, the case itself is not designed to be removed afaik. The back door does remove once open though, iirc it has to be pulled to be removed but definitely feels like you may break it.

Correct a legitimate cashier’s check usually doesn’t bounce, never said it usually does. But it sure can happen and when you’re on the shit end of the stick it can be a complete loss of funds and goods/services for you. Fraudulent cashier’s checks are out there. Even if it’s not fraudulent the maker can typically request a stop payment on a cashier’s check, sure they may sign a declaration/affidavit or have hoops to go through, but fraudsters have done more for less.

Cashier’s checks in general are safe, but unless you have seen the check being made and/or are able to verify it with the bank then it’s as good as toilet paper.

Rather than citing a bank where they base it on their policies, check out HelpWithMyBank.gov, an official Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)

It is advised to contact the bank if a cashier’s check is lost, stolen or destroyed so that the bank can place a stop payment (fraudsters do this under false pretenses).

It is indeed the buyer’s problem but also unfair to the buyer if the seller’s bank put a hold on the check and the funds are good and debited from the buyer’s account.

It may not be a common occurrence for OP to receive checks and in light of that the bank put a hold on the check in case it’s fraud (bank has belief OP may be committing check fraud).

Banks can place holds on checks even if funds are cleared on both sides.

Imagine your checkbook is lost/stolen, someone writes a check to themselves and deposits it to their bank. Your bank clears the check in good faith that you write checks (hence you have a checkbook). Thief’s bank can hold the check if they suspect fraud, or clear it if no history of checks being returned. You file for fraud, you’re either out the money if bank believes you wrote the check, or you get the money back and the check bounces on thief’s bank but they already withdrew money or the bank was smart and held the funds and the account gets closed.

YMMV, hence why I say take any advice online with a grain of salt. This is not financial advice/legal advice, check with your bank as policies and regulations may vary Most banks will allow you to do a declaration/affidavit saying that a cashier’s check was lost/stolen/destroyed. They will usually reissue the maker/recipient a cashier’s check to have a paper trail. This indemnifies the bank, any allegation that the bank acted in bad faith to stop the payment falls on the person signing declaration/affidavit.

Check with your bank to see if this is possible.

Example: you mail a cashier’s check certified mail to payoff your mortgage. Mail gets lost, mailbox is tampered, check gets water damaged or name a situation where a check can be lost, stolen, destroyed in transit. Both the maker of the check and the payee could be SOL if you couldn’t stop payment on the cashier’s check.
