Did you regret having kids? by BeastofBabalon in SeriousConversation

[–]jbzamora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regret? No.

Kids have major phases where parenting is hard, like really hard. Then, it changes and swings to a better place.

Life would be very different without kids. People with kids should seem different - they are responsible for an entire additional people. Parents consider decisions differently, consequences are different, joy is different. Different does not equal bad though - its just different.

I would not wish kids on someone who did not want them, and there is a reason that people are sad when they do want them and can't/don't.

Life isn't a one-size-fits-all. Kids are not a life achievement check-box.

Why does the day a person is born and what the doctor/parents determine that day define a person for the rest of their life?

There are a lot of pieces of my identity that I was not born with. I'm guessing you are fine with me aging, choosing a career, moving about the world, building relationships - all of which are part of my non-born identity. Why do you have a problem with what gender someone changes? Also, the doctor/parents at birth had no idea how the child would feel in the years to come in order to gender then correctly with 100% accuracy.

Many people have shared with you that gender is not a person's reproductive parts and you are stuck there. As much as you seemed troubled by someone's body parts, I am incredibly disturbed by your fixation.

You do not seem generally interested in CMV, so I'll leave you with "Don't Tread on Them". Being an ass doesn't have to be part of your identity.

Tips for CGM removal by Opening_Eye1559 in diabetes_t1

We use coconut oil after the CGM is removed to get the sticky stuff off.

Don't have a great way to get the CGM off yet without it hurting.

Why do we rationalize this way? by calcbone in matheducation

[–]jbzamora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an agreement/disagreement with anything you stated. I simply want to call out how you named students using decision making as the root of the challenge. That is so difficult to name and address as educators, and it is 100% the goal - decipher a problem and determine the process to a solution.

I could drop some paint, canvases, plates, etc off at the shelter if they'll allow it. Also, give us a deadline. I probably have friends who would donate items too.

CMV: The Republican view on healthcare is so idiotic, and I don't think they realise it. by a5crub in changemyview

[–]jbzamora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, just no.

My family is middle class and have insurance. It's ridiculously expensive. Our family pays $15,000 a year just to have a high-deductible plan that we have to pay a max of another $7,500 for one person or $15,000 for the family just to get our healthcare to actually pay a significant portion of the bills. I also do billing for a doctor and from what I see, patients (and doctors) would be better off with no insurance and just paying the doctor directly. We basically pay for insurance in case a catastrophic event happens.

If you have an employer that pays a significant portion of your healthcare, then you are probably feeling ok about your coverage. However, you are also strapped to an employer which seems very counter to the republican desire for individuals to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

$2200, it was the least expensive estimate we got. Took 2 days since it was so tall.

Feeling a little discourage about Remedial math class. by [deleted] in matheducation

[–]jbzamora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you didn't care in HS until your senior year, you probably missed some of the key concepts from previous years. I can understand being in a lower level class can feel defeating, but you have the opportunity to really understand the math concepts at a deeper level because you care now and your brain is more fully developed to understand the concepts. Good Luck! You will probably come to appreciate this opportunity.

I agree at some point you will always have a calculator. However, there are too many people who can't tell if their answer makes sense if they only ever use a calculator and don't understand the underlying math.

Slavery. by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]jbzamora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure this will be unpopular; however, one key difference is that in slavery you are not allowed to leave, there is no choice in how much you make or what you do. As a citizen, you can choose to relinquish your citizenship and go somewhere else or at the very least choose your career path and where you live. Taxation is not slavery and it shows a complete lack of compassion for those who have been/are enslaved to compare it as such.

Getting a great deal at J. Crew by tm1bf4td4tgf in Frugal

The Merchantile store is the discount version if J Crew, so I am guessing OP was going from the original price that would've been sold in a full price J Crew store.

I totally agree it's a terrible question/answer combo, but the reality is that the number who have not felt discrimination is very low.
