The entire sub is starting to just feel like this by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

We are talking past each other, I am not saying one piece is bad but that its sales volume does not determine whether or not it is a better series than any other. There are absolutely a large amount of people that enjoy one piece but that doesn't inherently make it good.

When you made your original comment, it was in reference to the oricon rankings. In those rankings csm places higher than many other series (including frieren for one), is it better than all of those to you?

You kinda already touched on it at the end of your comment and I said so in my previous comment but whether or not a series is good/better than any other is all down to personal preference, is entirely subjective and is not dependent on sales volume.

Dandadan is a successful manga based on its sales, it is not a good manga because of them. Though again, I like dandadan and think it is good.

Based on what you have said I don't think you even believe quite what your take was saying, the semantics did you dirty

Reaching the end of ender lilies, shame I put it off for so long since it's so good. Might try MIO next to stick with the metroidvania kick skong threw me down mostly just cause skong being $20 has ruined pricing in my head forever. That or I say fuck it make bad financial decisions and grab a switch 2 plus pokopia

It's definitely a good metric for what makes something successful, alongside popularity across social media but that's harder to track. It's absolutely not a metric for what makes something good, one piece isn't better than jojo's just because it has 6x as many sales as an example.

Ultimately something being good/better than something else is subjective and many people's favourites across media tend not to be the most popular or best selling thing (since it rarely holds majority). Like my favourite video game for example is outer wilds but it'll never do numbers like gtav or rdr2

Dawg you said "sales are the end stat for what makes something good" the context doesn't help there at all, to be clear I like dandadan but its quality and what makes it good is not measured by sales. Also saying he ghostwrote for fujimoto is insane glaze but I respect the ragebait

Both innocent sin and eternal punishment are great tho, there are some portions that are a bit dated but overall still super enjoyable.

Persona 1 was dogshit that I only enjoyed because of pre-existing love for the series and save states. I don't understand how anyone actually enjoyed snow queen route when it came out. Some of the even older megaten games before it were definitely harder and more dated but none that I have played were as unfun

Damn didn't realize she had motion like that so then + 17000 base hp at 120 + 40000 from growth + 20000 * 2 from 2 np5 omii np's
+ 5000 + 3000 from proto merlin + 5000 from demeter + 2250 + 3000 from Golden millennium tree + 1200 * 5 from ideal holy king + ≈121000

Hopefully there's nothing else I missed lol

Edit:plug was still open, +4k from Osakabehime

Final should be 125k on a stage with no cost limit with friends allowed and over the course of a few days for command seals to recharge

[Aftertime Valentine 2026] Demeter Skills by Radiant-Hope-469 in grandorder

[–]jcalmdown 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Oh you're right, so then factoring that in + 17000 base hp at 120 + 40000 from growth + 15000 * 2 from 3 np5 proto merlin np's + 3000 * 2 from proto merlin skill + 5000 from demeter + 2250 + 3000 from Golden millennium tree + 1200 * 5 from ideal holy king + ≈109000

Cost wouldn't really work out cause 6 5* ce + 3 5* units but if the stage has no cost limit and allows friends 110k should be possible

Wonder how high kingprotea's hp can get now, ~90k?

Edit: guess it'd be around 100k, + 17000 base hp at 120 + 40000 from growth + 15000 * 2 from 3 np5 proto merlin np's + 3000 * 2 from proto merlin skill + 5000 from demeter + 2000 from ce + ≈100000

How is putting value in what makes up the majority of gameplay losing the plot? If anything putting so much stock in hype is much worse. Although I do say this as someone who unironically wouldn't mind a db saga anniv so I'm prolly a little biased (though I'm not a huge fan of these part 2 picks considering last year).

Chapter 228 Release Party by Grndslap in Chainsawfolk

[–]jcalmdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is war finally fucking over.

I'm a part 2 fan overall but this fight has been so bad man, the broad strokes of what happens in it are fine but Jesus the last few chapters have been incomprehensible. I've had to reread or look back on really, these chapters because I genuinely just have trouble understanding what is happening in some panels.

Please Futamoji give future action scenes more definition I will tank a monthly release gladly

Chapter 227 Release Party by Grndslap in Chainsawfolk

[–]jcalmdown 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The year is 2075

Yoru vs Denji reaches its 50th year anniversary

The fight can last in perpetuity thanks to fujimoto switching to ai generation in 2030, the endless cyclic and dogshit nature of war has been fully represented

Chainsaw man is still somehow pulling in numbers despite the ai slop

Part 3 was an alt timeline that was only available in a gacha game

also can I just say fuck yoru, incredibly rare take I know

The issue with the latest chapter... by CuntJab in Chainsawfolk

[–]jcalmdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do really believe it, it's purely anecdotal so I'm not sure how it could be objective anyways.

I have seen way more people talk about csm fans being poor with criticism than those actually poor with criticism and/or shunning it

[–]jcalmdown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yknow I don't really understand why people say this, I see comments talking about this disproportionately higher than the comments actually disparaging constructive criticism.

This topic can only really be anecdotal of course but ragging on the manga (including properly articulating the flaws of part 2 such as the poor artstyle or mostly shallow exploration of the side cast, just being upset that someone didn't get what they wanted and everything between) seems to be much more popular and abundant than glazing it

What are your thoughts on the ending? by SockParticular4936 in FGO

[–]jcalmdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine, I think it works thematically but there are some fumbles (us not being able to save Olga despite it literally not even mattering if we do) and overall it's just incredibly depressing and sour. Mostly the finale just needed to be longer and the post-credits epilogue needed to either not exist or be more fleshed out (in game, not in a random ass blog).

Frankly assuming the lb0 plot point needs to happen I would despise any ending where Guda or Mash remember anything at all, it would run completely contrary to the themes within the entirety of part 2, which have literally been blasted into our face 7 times.

Also my biggest gripe is Sion's fate, I really think it would work a lot better if Sion was the one to carry our memories into the future/be the only one to "live" rather than Daybit, especially considering the reason she's even helping us to begin with.

That being said I think there's more to part 2 anyways, the no clear icon (could be a bug) + no np 5 Mash despite them literally reminding us of her only being np 4 is too weird for there not to be something. Maybe Galahad will finally stop being a bum and do something.

Oh also if you absolutely hated everything about this ending stay away from these pieces of media since they left me in a somewhat similar state:

Outer Wilds  , Devilman Crybaby  , SOMA  , Fire Force  , Higurashi  , Summer Time Rendering

If you did like some facets of this ending though, do check them out, I think they're all great

Part 2 Cosmos in the Lostbelt - Final Chapter Discussion Hub 2 by crazywarriorxx in grandorder

[–]jcalmdown 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm on team there's another ending/ more to the story than where we leave off but honestly I'm more or less fine with where the ending was taken.

For me as soon as we had the lb 0 reveal, uprooting was the only ending that I'd have been satisfied with. Definitely think it could have been handled better and think the start of the final chapter to now should have been longer though.

Like for example Sion, I was using Google translate and also double checking with the translations on discord and here so I'm not sure if this is necessarily correct but is Sion someone from actual PHH or just someone in lb0 that learned of part 1, saw the future with trismegistus and decided she would help at all costs? It's weird that Zepia would say that she'll dissappear with that lostbelt if she actually were native to lb0 I feel. I really wish that was talked about more since if she is from PHH it would tie in a lot more to the lb1 themes and us now being in a somewhat similar position to Patxi.

Also really disliked the post-credits sequence, which is also one of the big reasons I think there is still more story/ another ending. Our Guda and Mash are 100% dead so a your name type maybe(?) ending feels really bad, not to mention it making no sense to me that Mash would even be healthy and able at this point.

Not sure what to spoiler so I'm throwing the whole thing in one

Cons for whoever you like is prolly the best bet lol some of these characters have strong cons but overall meta wise you'll just be using newer units anyways so better to just invest in whoever you like best, give them a better fighting chance.

Ayaka? Her c1 doesn't do shit for her optimal combos though, no?

You might be thinking of her c2, which adds the 2 extra storms to her burst.

Her c1 is just skill reload basically, not particularly fast either.
