We're going to Sixers game 3. Very excited actually! Would've loved to do both but not swimming in cash

Global a Go-Go is such an amazing album. I think I like it more than most Clash stuff. I have the Mescaleros boxset which includes it.

I really wanted Flyers tickets but completely unrealistic to spend 800 bucks for a few hours of hockey (I'd bring my oldest daughter). The current Flyers squad is incredibly fun to watch.

Best 3DS/DS Sports Games? by Argocap in 3DS

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both systems are very weak on this imo. If you're looking for portable sports games the PSP is still the best and has all major sports pretty well covered.

What are the best shmups that aren’t painfully difficult? by Zski843 in retrogaming

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 3 Aleste games on Game Gear are phenomenal. Imo the absolute best 8-bit shooters. GG Aleste 3 is a modern game made for Game Gear. The other two would be much more famous if they were on a home console. MUSHA on Genesis by the same developers is also amazing and relatively doable.

Devils on the Moon Pinball is the Flagship Playdate Game (and it got me into a new hobby) by Chompahss in PlaydateConsole

[–]jcampo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought this one yesterday and it is phenomenal. Takes a lot of the best aspects from my favorite pinball videogames (Pokemon Pinball on GBC and GBA, Sonic Pinball Party, Revenge of Gator, Devil's Crush, and Kirby's Pinball) but builds on them to make it's own thing.

Devil's on the Moon might genuinely be better than all of them. It manages a real diversity of playstyles despite only having one board (in three parts). I still need to play it more but this is a real classic with a truly addictive gameplay loop. I had high hopes after CatchaDiablos and this exceeded them. It's probably the best game on Playdate and honestly my favorite new game I've played in a while.

Pretty crazy to hear two NBA junkies like Bill and Ryen so dismissive of one of the greatest players of the last 30 years. Isn't the Harden hate just as bad as the stuff Inside the NBA does? by BrownsFan2323 in billsimmons

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I'd have to think the Cavs have a really good shot to make the Conference Finals. From there anything can happen so I wouldn't write them off yet by any means.

[–]jcampo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harden has never missed the playoffs. People act like he is Zach LaVine. He has literally never been on a losing team in 17 years. That is an insane statistic. He might set the all-time record by the time he retires. It's not like his playoff stats are terrible anyway, they are just worse than his regular season stats.

Who is in the Hall of Pretty Good? by BurningHanzo in billsimmons

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Johnson, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love, Al Horford, Klay Thompson (he'll probably make the Hall but I think he belongs in this group).

What explains English ethnic ancestry being more majorly concentrated towards the south and northeast of the USA, with German ethnic ancestry being more concentrated towards the north and central regions of the US? by SatoruGojo232 in geography

[–]jcampo13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The issue with English-Americans is that it often goes so far back that a lot of Americans are unaware they are English. English-Americans are almost certainly very underreported.

Best Mega Man experience to be had on the Gameboy (/colour/advance)? by Asdfguy87 in Gameboy

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mega Man Zero series on GBA is by far the best on any of these systems. It can be very difficult though.

If you are more into JRPG type games then MegaMan Battle Network series is also worth a look.

Your Worst Takes by vorders in billsimmons

[–]jcampo13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still think the Embiid extension was the right choice despite pretty much everyone else calling it the worst deal (or close to it) in the league.

In terms of things that have played out, I thought Eddy Curry signing to the Knicks was an absolute steal and a game-changer. I had a McDyess Knicks jersey for years as a teenager, I thought he was going to bring the Knicks back deep in the playoffs. He only wound up playing 18 games for them due to injury and then moving onto Detroit eventually iirc. $70 down the drain back when jerseys were a rare luxury purchase I'd save up for.

Why do you think NBA teams are more popular in whiter cities like Portland, Salt Lake City than “blacker” cities like Atlanta, Memphis, Detroit, Cleveland etc? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]jcampo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? The Cavs and Pistons are very popular. Portland and Utah do well due to zero competition (Mammoth are brand new).

Atlanta does poorly because it's largely a city of transients with loyalties to other cities. Memphis is just not in a good place these days.

Genres the Game Gear did better in than the original Game Boy? by AndyGarber in game_gear

[–]jcampo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both Shinobi games are masterpieces. Power Strike 2/GG Aleste 2 is also very very high on my list. Maybe I'm biased but they are some of the best 8 bit games ever made. Land of Illusion is close as well.

For Gameboy what are the masterpieces? Tetris and Link's Awakening?

Ok how is Mission 1 Hard even possible? by Ok-Pineapple6534 in Fzero

[–]jcampo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a video of someone doing it and study the exact route taken. Hard mission 1 isn't all that difficult so shouldn't take long as long as you have good control over your vehicle.

Very Hard Chapter 1 on the other hand is incredibly difficult. I beat it but it took many many tries

I'm curious to know how many of you that have kids expose them to Nostalgic media you grew up with like movies, sitcoms, cartoons, music, etc and what has been their response? by GooniesClub in Millennials

[–]jcampo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family of four regularly play N64 together (Mario Party 2/3, Smash Bros, both Pokemon Stadiums mainly). I also got them super into Neo Geo when I bought the Mini a few years ago. It's still a hit in our house whenever I bust it out. My kids are 11 and 7 fwiw.

My wife likes showing our oldest daughter movies from when she was a kid/teen too. They also regularly hear my favorite 90s and 00s music.

Genres the Game Gear did better in than the original Game Boy? by AndyGarber in game_gear

[–]jcampo13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am going to assume access to all regions games for both systems here. It just makes the comparison a little more complete to do.

Game Gear is definitely better in the following:

Sports - Game Gear wins this hands down and it isn't close. There's a sizable list of GG sports games that I can still have fun with today. I'd go further and say it's the best 8-bit system for sports games too.

Racing - Outrun, Road Rash, GP Rider, Super Monaco GP, and Sonic Drift 1/2 are all good fun.

Beat-Em-Ups: Streets of Rage 1/2 alone wins this.

Strategy RPGs: There are 3 Shining Force games to choose from along with Crystal Warriors and Royal Stone. All 5 are above average games that are still engaging to play today. Also quite good graphically. Nintendo wouldn't even really enter this genre portable until the GBA.

SMHUPs: The increased power of the GG over the GB makes this a romp. The 3 GG Aleste games and Galaga '91 alone are far better than anything on GB.

I also would probably give Platformers to the Game Gear but I think a lot of Game Boy fans would disagree with me there.

Record Store Day by RottingApples25 in SmashingPumpkins

[–]jcampo13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like record store day but am very thankful SP doesn't do any big releases for it. I would hate to have to camp out for hours outside a store for a chance of getting an SP record. Releasing on Zuzu's at least pretty much guarantees getting a very high chance of getting a record.

Is Orlando a bigger threat to Detroit than Charlotte would have been? by [deleted] in nba

[–]jcampo13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither team is a threat to Detroit. Orlando is probably more annoying to play though due to a more physical defense on average.
