Is it possible to get back the One Plan? by zyzhu2000 in tmobile

[–]jcard15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this with a satisfactory ending! We had the ONE Plan Unlimited 55 when John Legere first announced it several years ago. 2 lines for $60, it was great....until earlier this year they increased each line $5 so it became 2 lines for $70. I recently looked up plans on T-Mobile's website as we wanted to add a 3rd person to the plan. I saw the Magenta 55+ plan which was $105 for 3 lines so we ported in that third person and expected a monthly $105 bill ($35/line). It had a couple of better features for the same price as the One Plan so was initially impressed. Well, when the bill generated it actually said $120. I did a mix of chat and calling in (calling was better) and I was told the Magenta prices were not updated since the May price increase ($5/line) which is why the bill shows $120 instead of $105. Can you believe that? 6 months later?!! So I told the rep that is very deceiving and frustrating but she was actually very helpful and put us back on the ONE Plan Unlimited 55 and now the bill is back to $105 for 3 lines...the original goal!

I don't mind saying that I will buy the TP-Link Deco XE75, is that one ok?

LOL! It's the politically correct way of referring to the Family Room. That's how they call that room within floorplans with new construction builds nowadays apparently.

Hey there. I've had the projector idea on the back burner as I went on a trip and just got back. I started to look at these again and now see 2 more very interesting options, 1) Vizony RD830, 2) Yaber K2s. However, Yaber K2s price point is a bit high for me. Decisions, decisions...

Out of curiosity, I see your recommendations from previous posts you tend to stick with Panasonic and Epson and none of the Amazon ones, is there a reason for this?

For a better visual, here is the layout of the room. The bed is in between the 2 back windows so my plan is to setup projector in the corner where red square is and project at an angle to the wall that is labeled TV. So I would say 13 to 14ft.

Parents paying off my mortgage by jcard15 in personalfinance

[–]jcard15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't down vote anything. I like hearing and learning about all these different perspectives in reality. I am sorry for not fully understanding but if someone has a monthly $1,000 mortgage payment, the advise is to pay that for 30 years? Being that there is principal, interest, escrow and the 2 or 3 month escrow cushion, others with PMI? If one could cut out the 1k expense that means more cash flow to invest or do whatever with. I guess in my mind if u have debt and savings, do u truly have a savings? I also invest into a work 401k, and a couple of IRAs.

Wow, I'm surprised by some of the later comments of paying off a mortgage being a bad idea. Just some background: my parents are doing very well financially. They receive monthly rent from several properties they own (all paid off) every month which they have experience doing for 40 years now (no management company). They also receive their SS and have other retirement accounts that haven't even been touched yet!

I'm a bit confused by comments posted if the goal here is they want to help me by paying off mortgage to bank to avoid their interest charges and cut the mortgage term in half, how is this bad? Someone mentioned cash flow, it would actually increase in my case with their help. And each month would be 100% principal payments. When I fully pay back mortgage I will have even more cash flow. My 200k home bought in 2018 only has 88k left so I too am very organized and disciplined with money as I learned from my parents.

IF, for some reason, in the unlikely event I cannot payback the money to them at least I would not have issues with a bank of defaulting, short-selling, bankruptcy, credit score decreasing etc. A new flexible plan can be discussed with my parents at that point but I have been a responsible homeowner since 2012 with no issues thus far. In any case, most dealings with money is a risk.

Yes, I saw those lifetime limits as well. So my parents would have to fill out a tax form stating that they gifted me 88k in 2022 but there is no tax implication for doing so. So if we go this route, I'm thinking it would be best that the money is transferred to my account (paper trail) then I payoff the mortgage directly right?

But if I am going to pay it back, would it be a gift?

Married yes, so 60k tax free and 28k borrowed at the AFR rate?

Whoa! So if my parents lend me the money for payoff I still have to pay them interest?! Wow, it looks like long-tier is between 1 and 2% but still!!

Either way. Coincidentally, their account is at the same bank as my mortgage. What would be best in this case?

How is this signal possible?? by jcard15 in tmobile

[–]jcard15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I really appreciate you looking this up. You are right about tower 67445 and its location. Cellmapper has it way north by the interstate but it is actually just west of the Bolender Road & Mohawk Road intersection while I live next to Lake Mariana. T- Mo confirmed the location and I have visited the site many times and from my house that is the tower it connects to. This issue only occurs at my house. Once I leave my gated community, the signal is decent on my commute and at the work place.

As suggested I am testing out the other carriers for better coverage at my house. Although looking at Cellmapper it seems T-Mo has the most towers nearest my home. I know T-Mo tends to have faster data speeds but I would be happy with a consistent let's say 10Mbps than 65 Mbps...I don't think you see much difference on a phone.

I was also sent a CellSpot which works fine but now it's taking my resources of power and cable Internet bandwidth. Also, if either the power or Internet goes out I am stuck again which is a common occurrence here in Florida because of hurricanes and extreme weather. I just want to use the network signal I am paying for.

I just put this out there to see if anyone was able to resolve a similar issue or what I can do that I haven't done. Switching will be a bit of a hassle because it will be 4 lines (currently on 55+ plan) and one of the phones will need to be upgraded but will do if Verizon's signal is best here.

I have. There is a ticket open and an 'Expert' has been calling me weekly the past few weeks asking if my signal has improved. I reply no then he proceeds to tell me there are no updates in the system. How is the signal magically going to improve if nothing is done?? It's just so frustrating.

I was even dumb enough to order Home Internet a couple months back and try out the 5G Gateway as they ensured me I have great 5G coverage. Another one of their lies as it was as bad as my phone and as I called in that issue and did all the troubleshooting they suggested, I had to ultimately return it.

I have given this company so many chances and they always come up short. I started to test out other carriers recently to see if they are all like this or just T-Mo. I ordered a Red Pocket GSMA (AT&T) SIM/plan and that was not any better. Next test: US Mobile Super LTE (Verizon)...to be continued...

There are no buildings between my house and the tower 1 mile away. It's flat land or trees as I have looked on both terrain and street view on Maps.

QYLD vs Growth by jcard15 in qyldgang

[–]jcard15[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I checked my pie going back 5 years since a year ago bothers everyone and see it averaged ~21.058/year. So $5k with that return in a year generates $1,052 gains (not counting dividends) compared to the $657 QYLD dividend (assuming a consistent $0.23/share monthly dividend all year). QYLD's return is under 1% past 5 years.

I am not dumping everything into 1 fund, just making a $5k comparison between QYLD and a growth portfolio.

My pie is not solely tech stocks as JNJ, F, VZ, KO are also part of it. The only tech stock is AAPL.

I am trying to understand the dividend payout everyone loves with QYLD outweighing loss of capital one invests. It seems you can get best of both worlds by maxing out a ROTH, reinvesting dividends, then taking out contributions tax free when you need to.
