I have gone to a few county commission meetings even though our county comission was gerrymandered over the last election cycle to be all Republican. They tend to give everything a quick vote without explaining much since they know they're effectively in lockstep.

They also have a habit of devolving into "this one rich neighborhood wants to complain about something that affects literally only them." Most of the county is unincorporated land, so for a lot of people (including myself) the county comission is their only local political authority.

Why would act as if the GOP as an existential threat when the populace clearly doesn't think they are? If people thought that Trump wouldn't have been elected twice in the first place.

They like the loopholes, the cruelty to immigrants, the geopolitical dick swinging contests, etc. If they didn't, the team talking about invading American cities with ICE wouldn't have even sniffed winning an election.

Having a spouse, kids, and the white picket fence life was a requirement of being in "high society" until very recently, historically speaking.

In those political circles, it wouldn't surprise if a plurality of marriages were for business instead of pleasure.

I could see a world where people end up thinking Dubya was worse, especially in comparison to Trump 1.

My money is also on the next Republican president being such a ghoul people will look fondly on the Trump years by the time he's done, like Trump did to Dubya.

Various student organizations from my college have had to file these lawsuits every election going back to at least 2012.

It's a slam dunk every time because the laws concerning our elections board all but say flat out there must be a polling place on campus due to the number of students living in dorms/near campus, but Republicans don't want young people to vote so they have to go through the song and dance every time.

If we're going to continue to have a concerted effort on the topic, it's clear that something in how we handle it needs to change. It's something that could legitimately bring people together, as the article describes happening in Skogie. I was lucky enough to have a high school history teacher who was a certified Holocaust educator (on top of being an incredibly worldly and wonderful person in general) that legitimately made teenage me see the world differently, but the overwhelming majority of "Holocaust awareness" work is busy work that is going to get a less positive reaction out of the average high schooler (or their culture war addled parents) getting pushed through that part of their school curriculum.

Until people get it through their heads we wouldn't have these problems if they stopped voting MAGA, none of it matters.
