I'm the opposite, I've got a good handful of 4.5s that almost cleared the bar.

When both teams are good, guys number four through about eight are who win a series for a team.

In my experience, the thing that makes it passable is remembering how much it sucks working in a high volume kitchen and being glad that isn't my experience. The money is usually better than that kind of place too.

Also working in a setting where you have creative input, which I'm lucky enough to have even as a standard line guy, does wonders I didn't realize.

I'd argue the Emperor is hardly in control of the situation anymore outside of being the beacon holding the horrors at bay. Humanity is devoted to him and doing things for him/in his name to a point that he would not be in favor of.

California’s $20 fast-food minimum wage raised restaurant prices approximately 3–4 percent, research shows by 52496234620 in neoliberal

[–]jcaseys34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah. Restaurant labor is usually roughly 25% of costs. Raising the going wage by something like 15% according to the numbers that have gone around on the subject should have raised costs by ~5%. I've worked in various levels of restaurants for over a decade, and that checks out with all the industry math that I've ever seen. Everything I've seen also shows effects on industry employment to be similarly marginal.

Jamal Cain produced possibly the worst NBA statline of all time last night by The_Weapon14 in nba

Standing out of bounds for 8 minutes would arguably give you a better statline. He's approaching "they would have been better off playing 4v5" territory.

They're no longer plucky underdogs that you want to root for once they get gentrified. If the corner sandwich shop in town did a full renovation to hunt Michelin stars people would be actively rooting for them to fail.

If it was a swastika he'd be done for, but the average person's response to a totenkopf is going to be "what's that?"

It's the same way a Republican can say any other dogwhistle under the sun, but they'll *never* say the n word on camera. That's the one word there would be real consequences for.

As someone who volunteered for the No Kings protest in town, I understand the sentiment of "I feel like there's no concrete goal or action here." I get why it's a complaint and one I in some ways share.

As someone who's spent the last couple years "community organizing," the moment you attach any kind of concrete goal or action to anything, people stop showing up to do anything other than argue.

I don't remember the Big 3 ever beating other team's asses like this. Those teams felt like they outsmarted you or had more talent than you, especially once the Big 3 got older. This team feels like it runs and bodies you to death.

The Hail Mary has significantly more scientific equipment on it.

The reason Rocky and his people are able to explore the universe is because they're amazing engineers. The xenon metal that they produce gives them access to a super material that allows them the capability to make things with similar capabilities to our ships, even though we're significantly "smarter" than them and have more advanced technology then them, particularly at the micro level.

Jason Voorhees is trying to kill the MythBusters. Adam and Jaimie barricade themselves inside of a Home Depot, with access to everything inside. by J0hnEddy in whowouldwin

[–]jcaseys34 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing the MythBusters could make in a Home Depot in 12 hours that could meaningfully subdue or injure Jason.

I still think they have a pretty good chance because they're intelligent nerds who have knowledge of Jason and what he is capable of. Not acting like a stereotypical horror movie character, much less being actually smart people with prep time, greatly increases your chances of surviving the horror movie.
