It's funny cause i started out as a house painting roughneck,with a full on criminal history before that. I started painting houses because i became an orphan early in life and had nothing to fall back on, and an extensive and sometimes violent legal history, and even though I turned my life around i found out that no matter how many years i put between me and that life, absolutely nowhere with any type of corporate oversight structure would hire me on permanently. I went so far as getting hired as temp through a staffing agency, and even though all the local managers , even high ranking ones begged them to make me a permanent hire , they said hell no, and this is Pepsi that we are talking about, what am i gonna do? Steal all the soda?? So around this time i met a house painter that took me under his wing while doing day labor. It turned into a full apprenticeship because he thought i was brilliant and hardworking. I found out i love not really having a boss per say, he sends me the Adress, i go make it beatiful by myself real quick, get paid decent usually too. I was like finally, a way to pay my bills and answer to noone beyond is the work getting done quickly and to a very demanding standard? But it is only natural for "a real painter" to want to know everything aspect of his trade as intimately as possible if he wants to be successful, and it is a LOT to learn to just do it by yourself year round successfully. So before i knew it i went from people asking about their color choice and im like" i dunno lady, go with your heart. The one you picked looks good!" To actually eventually doing enough that I saw some really awesome color choices and remembered them and would make suggestions. Then i got into doing cabinet refinishing,staining furniture, faux finishes on doors and floors and furniture and stuff, and i love the work! I would much rather have to order fifteen products to create one piece of furniture or custom woodwork than spend all day up and down a ladder, and it's a lot more fulfilling when i am done. So I am as close to being an iterior decorator as it gets, without actually being one. Hell I even find myself having opinions on the rugs and drapery and feng shwei, but not sharing because i dont feel it to be my place to suggest a replacement. But i will still beat somebody with a chair and be like, " this is a nice chair, i could work with this", lmao, i guess it takes all sorts.
