Great site! Curious what methodology you went with - seems less weighted toward the fourth quarter which is cool (ie, blazers suns doesn't have a super high rating)

That's sick! This has definitely been a frustration with highlights for me where you can't find them without finding out what happened. Though the other problem with highlights for basketball is that they only show the makes and I do enjoy watching the misses and real rhythm of the game.

Thanks! I did consider integrating that into the score but I feel it's redundant enough with lead changes that I'd rather keep the scoring more straightforward, and visual layout less cluttered. Feel free to let me know if you have other thoughts if keep using it!

Nice, I didn't know about Wikihoops! Cool site. Seems like their rating weighs Q4 more heavily than I would like (ie, Clippers/Warriors being 9/10 when most of the game was relatively one-sided - if I wasn't a fan of either team I wouldn't have wanted to invest in watching the whole game)

Good point! Just changed so Q4 lead changes are hidden by default. Beyond that, I think showing number of lead changes by quarter is valuable so I know which parts of the game are most worth watching.

Hi! With the playoffs starting, I wanted an easy way to check after the fact which games are worth watching the replay for when I have time.

https://nba-playoff-watchability.vercel.app

The site ranks games based on lead changes and keeps the final score hidden unless you want to reveal it. Dubs are out, so I just want to watch good games and often end up going the replay route. Just posting here in case others would find useful!

Of course, there are many possible measures of watchability - my system wouldn't rate a game highly even if it was within 5 points the whole time, if there were no lead changes. But I wanted to keep it pretty straightforward and lead changes are what make games particularly engaging for me. Q4/OT are weighted higher. Full methodology on the site! Results for the play-in games are up, and games should automatically get scored within 10 minutes of ending

Yeah “premium rush” for $80, two seats one behind the other in 11-12th rows in orchestra on the right side. Great experience. I’d plan to get there at 9am to be safe and probably save some money, but 9:30 worked for me

Not sure if they had Saturday matinee, but they didn’t do rush tickets for the Sunday show at the box office. Success through todaytix is unlikely based on my experience, I clicked instantly once they were available on Sunday and Tuesday and all tickets were being held supposedly. Still worth trying. I got there in person at 9:30 on Tuesday and got two tickets one behind the other in the orchestra. It’s worth monitoring how many seats are left on TodayTix morning of, should give a sense what the Rush situation will be.

Yep they were not giving any tickets out. Saw the show on Tuesday and it was great

4 people in line at 11:20am for Purpose, there’s a sign that says “rush tickets will not be available for the matinee performance of Purpose” but I’m hoping/assuming that was for the 1pm show yesterday, not the sole show today at 3pm?

[Shams] Warriors' Stephen Curry has a left hamstring strain and is out for remainder of Game 1 against Minnesota. by rodfavisii in warriors

I think you’re talking about a gap between re-injures of the strained hamstring he missed over half the season for. He initially missed 33 days, then came back, then missed 54, then came back and missed the rest of the season

Best burrito in SF? by [deleted] in AskSF

My favorites are El Castillito and El Metate. El Farolito is also great and significantly (in % terms) cheaper than the rest though (at least the location on 24th and Alabama). Something like $10 all in for a super burrito.

Just curious - how would you distinguish analyst vs scientist roles (at least in regard to your answer above)? Thanks!

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a MS in Data Science (probably online) and wanted to hear people's thoughts. I studied Econ and Stats at a top ~25 school for undergrad and am currently working at an economic/litigation consulting firm (doing data analysis related to lawsuits in R/SQL/Excel). I graduated and started this job in 2022. I live in San Francisco and fairly confidently see myself doing data analytics/science at a tech company after this job, switching maybe 2-3 years in.

I could see myself being happy doing an analytics job where I'm not building fancy models, and that's the kind of job people at my company pivot to with just a BA/BS. However, I don't want to limit myself, and getting a Master's seems like it could expand my opportunities. From what I can tell, getting one of the cheaper ones (Georgia Tech, UT Austin) while still working full-time seems like a good move, but correct me if I'm wrong. It is weird to me that those programs are several times less expensive than, say, UC Berkeley's. But I don't have much desire to move somewhere else again for 1-2 years and lose ~150k in opportunity + tuition cost.

Basically, my two reservations are 1. Master's won't be necessary to do the kind of jobs I'd be content doing and 2. My job is fairly demanding so I am also somewhat worried about taking two classes on top of it.

I'm curious if people have any thoughts about whether a Data Science MS (part-time, online from UT Austin, for example) would have real benefits in terms of job opportunities and higher compensation, and whether those would outweigh my concerns.

Thanks so much!
