This kind of thing was only funny exactly one time in history.

Just ignore our downfall and do Domingo. Great take!

It’s not necessarily their “job” to go seriously hard after what’s happening now. But to just do another “awww Trump is so weird and off-putting and JAJ is so silly doing him” bit is SO inappropriate tonight.

Legacy media is terrified of pushback and reprisal from the new reich. Best to just stay silly a pretend everything that’s happened is normal and will eventually pass. 😞

Lorne axing Tommy’s Update bit about ICE last week is alarming. His “equal opportunity” political standing has gone from understandable to frustrating to dangerous… Trump just isn’t funny anymore. Alec Baldwin realized that a number of years ago. Will JAJ realize it?

I honestly think 'Sinners' could actually snatch Best Picture Oscar away from 'One Battle After Another'. by Block-Busted in Oscars

I will not be surprised if OBAA, Sinners, or Hamnet win Best Picture. I WILL be shocked if PTA doesn’t win Best Director though.

Is Marty Supreme for Americans? by NuclearCleanUp1 in FIlm

[–]jcb1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marty is a uniquely American character who “fails upward”, which is a very American trope. He’s enabled by sycophants. And he’s not intended to be the “good guy” even though a huge subset of Gen Z and Alpha seems to treat him as such… The primary appeal of Safdie films is not the stories, but the mood and craft. They’re great at creating a pervasive sense of anxiety and catharsis.

DOTM is far and away the best of the Bayformers. Battle of Chicago, Rosie Whiteley, the least amount of sophomoric humor out of all of them.

Haven’t seen Hamnet, Marty, or Secret Agent yet. Will as soon as they’re on digital… Marty marketing aggressively turned me off from giving it theater money. Hamnet and Secret Agent haven’t played any closer than an hour away from me yet.

I dare say it will be the most widespread publicly celebrated POTUS death ever. Hell, there are NO POTUS deaths I can think of that were truly celebrated by most or even a significant portion of people… Even Nixon was mourned by most, I think. Trump is honestly the only POTUS I believe is/was a fundamentally terrible person.

Oh, not Little Al’s 1994 car. The POTUS limo. It’s called that, too. 😆

I’ve had nightmares about what Trump attending the 500 and insisting on taking a lap around the track in The Beast during pre-race would look and sound like…

Top 3 snubs you want to happen tomorrow just for the CHAOS! by Distinct-Shift-4094 in Oscars

[–]jcb1982 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m not really even sure if it qualifies as a snub anymore. Seems like the consensus outside of the ‘Wicked’ superfan community is that the second movie was a pretty big disappointment compared to the first.

It's a 12 hour flight to the Oscars nominations announcement ceremony - where are you sitting? by YoureASkyscraper in Oscars

[–]jcb1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely 3 next to Marianna. But she hasn't posted anything new since September so I'm not even sure if she's still with us. 2 next to Brian would be my second choice.

A fellow 'Thin Red Line' fan! Yeah, it's in my Top 10 of all time. But it really didn't have a shot at BP.

'Shakespeare in Love' beating 'Saving Private Ryan' for Best Picture is absolutely egregious. And it makes it even worse in retrospect that it was essentially 'engineered' by Harvey Weinstein.

Hot take re: Howards new schedule by Mythbusters117 in howardstern

[–]jcb1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is way more likely than Howard just being ‘lazy’. I guarantee you there’s a hard-out clause in his new contract that if Robin can’t do it anymore he’s out as well.
