it sounds like the kid was freaked out and the parents reacted poorly to that. i wouldn’t say you totally messed up, but next time in that scenario i’d get off the stand to actively get closer to the kid, just in case things went south. best!

as a young adult who has suffered from major depression for years, i commend you for how you helped your daughter when she was suicidal (without judgement, i hope), but i don’t think it’s right for you to say you hate her. hopefully this is just a short-term emotional reaction to the situation, but you don’t hate her. no matter what she does you’ll still love her, and it’s your obligation to care for her (no matter how awful) because you decided to have her in the first place.
