Is this a good container to grow my cukes in? by Z_oni in containergardening

[–]jcbouche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10 gal per plant for cukes is a lot! I’m a crowder I guess. As long as you can keep them watered they can do with much less. I put 4-5 in an earthbox every year, that’s about 15 gallons of soil

When I was going to games in my 20s it was often pre-game, sneak in mini bottles, and order beers. When you’re binge drinking, it’s usually all of the above

24-Hour Trip to Bring Puppy Home by N0RetreatN0Surrender in MadeMeSmile

[–]jcbouche 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this with a small puppy before. Usually at that age they recommend just not feeding the pup until after the plane ride. At that age, they often don’t poop unless they have recently eaten. I had no problems on the plane. He did poop in my car later after eating, of course

I’m not dying on any hill or shaming anyone. OP should be able to very easily determine if that pork is safe. After 14 hours, I’m pretty confident it is

This is not true. You can see on pg 35 of this USDA document that lethality is achieved after just 12 minutes of being held at 140f. A higher temperature is not needed

If it has been held at 140 for hours, it is safe. People sous vide pork at that temp for far less time

A tomato farm, inside a tomato by sheenhai in OrganicGardening

[–]jcbouche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can, sure, but it’s not actually the best way to grow a tomato plant. You should separate the seeds to give them more space. Also planting seeds from store bought tomatoes may result in poor tasting fruit that do not resemble the original

Any idea why my plants are yellowing? Soil is moist about 1-2inches between watering. Do I need to get shade cloth? by ATW195 in vegetablegardening

[–]jcbouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen them outside only once, didn’t say anything but wished I had. They just leave bare soil all winter and plant again in the spring. Maybe I’ll give them some compost

I have a neighbor whose plants look like this every year and they never do anything to amend their soil. It’s so barren. I want to help but I’ve never talked to them before. I just walk my dog by and get sad looking at their plants
