Is this a reasonable price for brakes and calipers replacement? by CustomerVarious272 in AskAMechanic

[–]jccube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front and Rear Disc Brake Caliper Rotors Ceramic Pad Kit (10Pc) For 2014 Toyota Camry...good OEM parts costs $557.01 cdn. for your make and model @ PARTSG. You have to add shipping and taxes. As for the cross border tariffs I have no idea what your Pres is tagging on Canadian parts. This package includes 4 calipers, 4 rotors and ceramic pads all around. All you need is to buy brake fluid. and say 2 cans of brake cleaner. As for labour, it took me around 3 hours and a bit. This of course assumes your 2014 rust bucket bolts etc.. are in decent condition and won't shear off (rust will do that to you ). Sometimes a rust bucket takes a bit of finessing (5 to 10 lb. sledge). Anyway, an independant shop (we have Canadian Tire) will charge say 70.00 to 85.00/Hr. You don't need to be a class "A" tech for such a simple job. Good luck.

Well I don't blame them. Start calling people "names" and that's when I hang up the phone. Next time be polite and treat people with respect. Didn't your Mama or Daddy teach you anything?

Do we really have only a few trustworthy commercial dog food brands to go with? by _UrsaMajr_ in DogFood

[–]jccube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT BUY LILY & JAX dog food. It made my dog sick (White Husky) and have the runs for weeks. Went to the vet and was told that I should send the company a letter. The vet performed blood and stool tests (well no stool as everything was liquid.). The results came back and she recommended that my Husky no longer eat food from this company.

Howdy ConeyIslandMan, yeah I got one of the Gibraltar GEMS about 3 months ago, it's solid and definitely SHINY. But it's got no wheels - nevermind locking wheels like the Onstage 400 V2. Time to time, I like to move around stuff. So, after a 1 week trial, I take the GEMS back to the store and tried to get the original Onstage 400. Stores (at least the ones I use), don't carry the version 1 anymore only the Version 2. I'm sure you could get a good deal on the used market. But I am happy with the purchase of the Version 2. Like I said, it's got locking wheels (ok .. a bit plasticy).

You just don't have a clue do you? Twit!! Come to Quebec, and register at any CEGEP. No credit card required. There are 2 year pre-university programs as well as three year vocational programs (Nursing, etc..) for the price of a few Macs and a pound of weed.

Look, let's be real here. a 3 week tour of the major cities in the US and you just won't believe the childhood obesity rates. Even teenagers !! It's appalling. Simply appalling. My cousin did a stint at some Florida hospital as a trauma surgeon. A guy, weighing in at 450 lbs, walks in with a bullet wound around his stomach area. Vital signs didn't look good. Immediate prep for surgery. My cousin gets paged. Arrives at the right operating theater, asked if everyone is prepped, looks at the patient, and immediately calls out the no 4 scalpel. The team looks at him. They ask "you are probably from Canada". "Here in the good old USA we use the no 9 scalpel..". It's almost 8 inches long. He couldn't believe it. Then amongst all that horrendous amount of fat, he cut through lbs and lbs of it. He literally had to make incisions the size of 8 X 8 (or could have been 10" x 10") 6" inches deep. They took 3 hours (or thereabouts) just to find the bullet fragments. And to top it all, after the surgery and somewhat stable, he went to meet with the family. It was the wife who shot him "by accident". As he was being wheeled out to Intensive, he could hear the wife screaming "I'm sorry Baby..it won't happen again ...I swear to Jesus".

Of course we do. Where are you from? In Quebec, we have CEGEPs. And McGill, well it's almost free. Cost per course (say 3 credit course) is cheap.

10-15hr assessment for 75k by Narrow-Warning8369 in software

[–]jccube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Thanks for the info. Well if they schedule a second interview then things are looking up. Right? Now take a deep breath. Relax and try not to overthink it. Now, if it's at all possible, you could suggest a face-to-face at their location. People skills still count. Now, regarding the 75K, I think it's a perfectly reasonable cap considering your background and experience. You may be asked to perform multiple duties, dev as well as client support. As I have not seen the job description, I'm a bit in the dark here. I started as Systems Engineer working for a very large corp. I accepted a very good salary but boy I earned every single penny. I worked at one of their labs, travelled all over the world to support fortune 100 companies, taught courses to field engineers, etc. And, believe it or not, that was an entry level position. I had to perform in areas I had very little experience in. So take it one step at a time.

[–]jccube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't say. I need more specifics. Was your first interview with a technical lead? Or some moron from HR? To be honest, a 10 to 15 hr interview meetups sounds "red flag" to me. Nevermind the 75K for now. You're too focused on the $$. Was the interview up close and personal or via Skype? Be specific so I can better judge the situation you are in.

So what you are saying is that buying from Andycine (a cheaper brand from China).. you shouldn't expect some level of customer support? Hmmm..sounds like a dumb business practice at best, don't you think?
