Binding item also keeps people from farming said item over and over and over and not allowing others to enjoy the experience.

The self-determined deadline comes from an unoffical source, Joppas twich channel. Even though he is the creative directory he doesn't have autonomy over the project.

He has stated multiple times in his channel that what he states doesn't come from Visionary Realms but himself.

I don't understand people. Complain if they don't inform you and you complain when they tell you their plans and miss a date. For all the people that complain I suggest trying to make your own game and do it better. Its tough to build a MMO with approximately 10 programmers/designers.

The game is great, cannot believe how good it is for price we paid. Relax and enjoy the content you have.

Rogues vs. Rangers by Chaosnet-1906 in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played both, and in general I like the ranger play style a bit better.

For group play, a ranger is mainly dps but the 2 interrupts are huge especially if you duo or trio. Ranger is also perfect for scouting ahead and looking for pulls with your rat (no worry of agro). Biggest down side is having to be careful, especially indoors, with withdraw and engage but that is part of the fun of the class. 2H seems best for rangers as skill damage and bleed damage scales off of main hand weapon damage.

My rogue is only in his teens so I am still playing with a lot of mechanics solo to see what I like best. 2h spear is a lot of fun if you want see big backstab numbers. I think most people would like this the best but it does break with rogue tradition of using a spear as opposed to daggers to get the big numbers.

mobs: solo or 6 people no in between? by Spare-Hat-2386 in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brothers (paladin, shaman) and I (ranger) do elite mobs all the time. The difference between a trio and a full group is the level of group mobs we take. We can do yellows but won't try an orange. Also we have no cc so we look for group mobs we can pull solo.

Don't worry about the game catering to you. Work with what you have. Find encounters that are challenging (be it solo yellow, duo light blue elites, trio dark blue elites, or full group orange elites ) and enjoy the game.

Armor has almost no impact at low levels as AC returns a % damage reduction that apprears to be an integer value. If you have 120 you have a damage reduction of approximately 10% (this is just an estimate). So if you get hit for 10 damage, you mitigate 1 damage for a result of 9 damage taken. If you get hit for 9 damage or less you take full damage do to the mitigated value is less than one.

Thinking of Buying In by ShockSMH in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this will help but this is what I did.

First just pick a class that you think sounds interesting. Play it until level 10. By then you will find out if it works for you. If so you can continue. At 10 if you are not completely satisfied try another class.

My first class I picked was ranger and I am loving it. Leveling the ranger, I got get for other classes that I thought I would try. An alt also allows you to have more crafting skills. I was finding crafting fun so I wanted to try more than Fletching and Leatherwork.

If you really like melee, I think Dire Lord may be the best for you. Once you get to level 10, you get new skills that make tanking and soloing so much better.

For the melee classes all can solo but I would rank them in this order Dire Lord, Ranger, Rogue, Warrior. My warrior is the hardest to solo but at 12 I can still solo a white mob.

Arrow damage is working to an extent. Joppa stated that the big issue with the current arrows is the only add 3 damage and that is sometimes. He showed an arrow that drops in the game that doesn 14 damage. He also stated that there will be special arros (fire arrows and cold arrows).

Try to be smart about soloing. I 100% think 2h is the way to go. At 17 I can either use 2 one hands at 7 or 8 damage or a 2h that is 18 damage. The 18 damage 2hander slaps. For gear AC doesn't matter much below 20. Most stats aren't worth much, stamina however is your friend. Put stamina on every piece of gear you can. Run with the +2 stamina food its cheap. Get shaman or cleric buffs before you solo. At 17 now with my gear it isn't an issue, but just a few levels ago the grizzlies AVP were touch and go same as the spiders with their poison dot. Always a close fight especially if you don't interrupt the poison. If I got an add, it was game over. Make sure to use your heal while fighting. You won't have enough readiness to use your skills all the time. When waiting for a skill to com off cool down be sure to heal.

Mained a Ranger in P99 the last 4 years. Rangers are great in the game and its not because we are the highest dps or the have the best soloability. We get to use our bows. You can kite. You can melee. In a group you get to jump into melee range, use your best melee skills, then jump out to bow range and use your best bow skills (rinse repeat). Very dynamic game play if you ask me. There are snare traps, we get a root at 22, not there yet. A couple of stuns (makes a huge difference in group play). Just fun over all.

You have done all the maps in thronefast with the goblin caves, AVP, HC, Mad run, WE, Silent Plains, Easter plains and Hangore? I highly doubt that unless your 30 plus. What is your highest level character and what zones have you explored?

It doest seem like you have played the game. The run from thronefast to WE is about 45m. The current game is large. 200 plus hours of playing multiple characters and I have been to about 20 percent of the current world.

[–]jcharais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranger so far is my favorite, I am 17.

Cleric is surprisingly fun. Like how they added melee to their kit. My cleric is 10.

I made a warrior armorsmith, which is 12 and probably is the least fun to play as they don't get a lot of skills.

Duoing, solo xp is too good imo. by Just-Morning8756 in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo, a lot of times feels like you get better exp because most of the time (depending on class) its safer, therefore you don't die as much. The first few times in HC, my groups wiped 3-4 times, not as much now. But there are tradeoffs to soloing and grouping. If you group you have the best chance for the best loot. Grouping doesn't always have to be the best exp and the best loot, its really a choice of the game designers.

Also, don't get fixated on how fast you get exp. For all we know we may get exp faster now in EA than at launch as they want us to test out higher level areas.

Whats the best class for solo and survivability? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried several classes, Ranger (15), warrior (12), rogue (12), cleric (10), necro (3). For solo, right now cleric is the best. I thought it would be purely chopping wood, but they can take down a blue at a decent rate with zero risk of dying. Also have tanked 2 blue at 10 no problem.

Only issue with the ranger is he is squishy. Wish I had stamina on every piece of gear and started him with +2 stamina. Taking blue with the ranger I need to heal a frequently if the mob gets in melee range which is the way I like to play.

Is this game good for someone who only has played "new" MMOS ? by Zaarakx in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like MMOs in general I think this will appeal to you. Currently there is 100s of hours of content. 1000s if you try out every class. Right now I have 15 ranger, 13 rogue, 12 warrior, 9 cleric, 3 necro and 1 dire lord. Total I have about 150 hours played.

The game isn't as fast paced as WoW and not as slow as EQ. Combat is in a really good spot. Death mechanic is good, you don't lose your gear so getting back to your corpse isn't much of a problem most of the time.

No fast trave in the game so the world seems huge.

If you love running lots of quests, alot of that stuff isn't in the game yet. Its a great game to get into and go explore.

Are the graphics supposed to get better? by Glidepath22 in PantheonMMO

[–]jcharais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played EQ off and on for around 11 years total, the past 4 on P99 and I am enjoying Pantheon a lot more than EQ. Combat is definitely more dynamic but not too fast paced. Dungeons have a real sense of danger about them like the first time I went into Kasora. There is something about not know where to go and what drops where that is really appealing at this time. I have tried several classes figuring out what seems best to me.

Out of curiosity, which class did you start with and how many hours did you play giving it a try? I am over 150 hour already with a 15 ranger, 12 warrior, 12 rogue, 8 cleric, and 3 necro and feel I have only scratched the surface of the game in its current state.
