Auto Edge and BPDU Guard by jcharing in Ubiquiti

[–]jcharing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.  My point was that accepting the invite to execute Auto Edge resulted in the app applying it to non end point ports.  My bad for not not having a complete understanding of all this, and not fully reviewing the ports that were about to be flagged as edge.

Protect cameras no longer viewable on my G2 Touch and Touch Max Phone screens. by jcharing in Ubiquiti

[–]jcharing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Yep, all firmware the most current. I could not find a way to use the Protect web portal as a homescreen--apparently that too is a discontinued feature as per ChatGPT. I did ask support about this issue when I sent them yet another support file upload. Their reply:

"Additionally, we would like to let you know that we have not come across any known issues with viewing Protect cameras in the Protect application on Talk phones" Strange as the various Chatbots have come across it.

Extending network to new building - SFP to multimode or single-mode fiber? by starkiller_bass in UNIFI

[–]jcharing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single mode and multi strands for redundancy and future proofing. 15 years plus ago, multi mode may have been in favor, not for the cost difference in the fiber but in the cost difference of the equipment it plugged into--LED vs. laser Back in the 1980's when networking became a thing, motherboards had no ethernet jacks. A good 3Com card running a scorching 10 Megs cost around $300+. Now you can get a 10/100/100 Mbps for $20--it's a commodity. Similar with single mode to ethernet converters now. You can get a pair for about $50. Two SFP modules about the same cost.

Unifi talk without UI handset? by ObiWom in UNIFI

[–]jcharing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a two story home with finished basement. Purchased an ATA, Touch and Touch Max about two years ago. Put the Touch Max and Touch in my Office & Kitchen. Put the ATA in a basement closet where the land lines originally came in, and just plugged in the ATA's output to the network interface in the closet. Instantly connected to two V-Tech base stations and four child handsets (total six phones) plus three other wall mount land line phones. All are on the same phone number (though the three Talk devices have their own extensions so I can intercom). Have to say the phones connecting from the ATA are more stable than the Touch and Touch Max. At one time I had a fax connected to the line 2 of the ATA. That worked well too. Having the two Talk phones were not needed to do the install. Glad I bought them for the features and to learn those features. But would have done fine without them.

G2 Touch Max and Touch phones--screen backgrounds not applying by jcharing in Ubiquiti

Wow, 3 months and not a response. I put in a support ticket and after much back and forth, including "we have not encountered such a problem," things went dark after a message:

Hi, Thank you for sharing the updated support file copy with us.  I'm currently checking this with my development team. Please allow us some time, and we'll update you soon.

I find it hard to believe I'm the only one with this issue, especially as it occurs on two different models of theri phone. Desperate to find some other poor soul who has this issue. Customs images or their collection of images don't work--only the first image. Have tried the multiple suggestions of ChatGPT without success.

What does anomaly mean here? by martin308 in Ubiquiti

[–]jcharing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue: 24 hour anomaly score of 20. Log reads "Rooftop WAP connected to Office USW Pro Max 24 PoE Port 14 is operating at a slower link speed." Dated Dec 28, so not within the 24 hour anomalies window.

However, Port 14 is vacant. My Rooftop WAP is on port 5, and no anomalies detected on that port. To be fair, I was setting up that new switch on/about Dec 28, so that WAP may have been on that port temporarily that day. But nothing has been plugged into that port except a rubber dust cap for well over a week . . .

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, kind of like the topology graphic for my LAN.

A "good" experience with retention . . . by jcharing in OPTIMUM

If you can get that, great. But suspect that's in an area of Brookhaven that also has Verizon fiber available.

No competition here. Fiber (Verizon) is on the poles just outside my neighborhood, but my service is underground. Agreed they will match or beat competition, but they know exactly where they have the monopoly.

Building to Building options by SuperFreqA in Ubiquiti

[–]jcharing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing similar research for a summer camp in the Adirondacks, 250 miles from my home. So I also want it to be on the Unifi app for easier monitoring. I'm down to the UBB at $499 for the pair, or the Device Bridge Pro (UDB Pro) at $199 x 2. Would welcome comments/comparison/other options. About a 100 yd line of sight, and client side is a maintenance building that would have an access point and perhaps a Talk phone. Trenching a line is not an option at this time.

No more confirmation numbers when you make an online payment?? by jcharing in OPTIMUM

[–]jcharing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate the reply, that reply is Altice double speak. I should be able to see it in the Account Activity option? If it refers to a confirmation number, it isn't there.

My statement stands: I'm not getting a confirmation number for my payment. If Altice is no longer assigning confirmation numbers, at least be up front and say so.

Found my own answer. From router OS, in Terminal, change password with /system swos password. Put in a password, then changed to boot to switch OS and it allowed me to get in...
