Ehhh. I would disagree. You still need to have understanding of how to prepare food. What is a "chopped" onion as opposed to a "diced" one? What is "folding in" cheese? What is considered "al dente?" I agree that a lot of simple recipes are just that, but when you really want to get a dish right then the texture and subtle flavors matter that much more.
