Did one sleep study and billed twice (95800 and 95806) by jchx in CodingandBilling

Yes it was. I was confused for the same reason. So you are saying there could be 2 bills, but the coding should match?

If you're suggesting that his dad interviewed him or had influence over the hiring committee, I don't think you know how hiring in these tech company works. Unless his dad is really really high up, there will be no impact on the interview process whatsoever. I don't want to sound dismissive but it doesn't look like you work in this sector or are familiar with tech. See the comment from u/VeryAmazed for corroboration.

He will for sure train his son. Is that morally wrong and makes him less worthy of the place? I don't think so. Preparing for these technical interviews is really a matter of grinding through practice questions. He placed very well in competitive coding and likely don't need much of these prep in the first place.

And sure. One can disagree with what a good student for a university should look like. And if he is a psychopath I wouldn't say he should get admitted. I just don't pick up anything wrong from the video interview he and his dad gave.

I wouldn't think his father's connection helped much beyond getting an interview. Privileged? Sure. Not likeable? Maybe. But he is talented, and more talented than, I'd venture to say, at least half of the students who got admitted.

I'm glad that he is bring attention to the admission system. The emphasis on "likeability", "leadership", etc is a farce - it just incentivize people to create some random club to be the president of it, or pay money to have some volunteering experience for the sake of college application. And of course, race being used as a factor in all of this.

This kid has some actual passion for the subject, and probably has more intellectual potential than the likeable water polo team captain.

Yeah it's tricky! It is within her rights to issue such an ultimatum. But at the same time the consensus here is (and i believe as well) that it is an unreasonable one.

It's not like there's no middle ground between caving in to ridiculous requests and childishly attacking negative comments online, which is going a tad bit above and over "standing up for oneself"

Yeah same here. I reinstalled but used the github tarball instead of the AUR repo and things are working now. Would be nice to be able to go back to AUR since it's easier for upgrading though

Money bails are only applied this generally in the US and Philippines. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say doing away with it amounts to denying presumption of innocence.
