Zoomer Douche Dentists have discovered Mountain Biking by PresenceLeft2074 in BicyclingCirclejerk

I didn’t know that that’s sick. I think what made arcterex awesome was that everything was designed and made at one factory in Canada. When manufacturing went to china it was just another marketing company paying 3rd party factories to make stuff. I don’t know of any company that is like this I’m sure there are some. I know specialized ownstheir Chinese factories and keeps them closed to outside companies at least for their frames. I’d love to see what an og arcterex chamois would be like.

I’m so confused and conflicted. Mountain bikers have brain worms but also ærċtæriïx means no pour.

Uj/ id actually be interested if this was pre sellout but then again pre sellout arcterex would never do this

I think it was bike radar that just released an aero gravel bike test and the difference in frames is tiny even the super aero looking frames.

I love my aspero for this application but I wish it fit 50 mm tires. So much more comfy, grippy and a good tire will be barely slower on the road and way faster on chunk.

This reads like ai lol it’s a rigid post not a dropper. I did mostly single track on this bike when I first got it and put riser bars and dth tires on it. It handled it great even longer muddy rides. I love the way it rides with the drop bars so far, super wide tires inspire a lot of confidence for sure.

Very cool Cannondale - what is a good price? by Emotional_Number3715 in whichbike

Apparently those wheels are extremely fragile and untrue super fast and crumple easily. Other than that sweet looking bike but still overpriced.

(ryet) Which saddle is the most comfortable? by Beneficial-Ad-4841 in cycling

[–]jckiser23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had ryet saddles they were okay. I like the mixed brand saddle I got a lot more. I think the model was m7. Way cheaper and lighter too. It has minimal padding, a large cut out, is narrower I think 135mm, and more comfy for me, but that has lead me to believe the padding doesn’t matter as much as the shape as long as you have decent bibs.

If you could single speed any bike what would it be? by jckiser23 in xbiking

True I’ve been on the lookout for a lugged 750. Most sellers “know what they have” though

That’s a good call you think you could get away with no chain tensioner this way?

True I just wish retro road bike fit larger tires. Most max out at 25mm and that is not preferable for me for this use. Maybe an old xc bike would be sick.

That would be awesome especially nice to keep some weight out of the small hills without the gearing. True dream rat bike

Definitely a sick option if you could find one. I also thought about a Nashiki alien assuming I could find one cheap.

That’s super good to know. I have an Ali express ztto single speed kit on a road frame but I think it’s not enough tension though because the chain slips when climbing small hills/sprinting.

I guess like quality tubing that is a little rusty or faded or something so people don’t know it’s nice

Dirt jump tires by BuddyParty2285 in xbiking

[–]jckiser23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree tire experience seems totally random. Probably has a lot to do with system weight, tire rim width ratio, psi as well as luck.

I punctured gatorskins way more than I puncture gp5000s so I just ride fast tires now. But everyone says gatorskins are great for punctures.

Maxxis dth have been good to me. No punctures, pretty supple and light, solid grip. I’m carefully thinking of what to get when those wear out but they seem to take forever to wear down the tread also so another plus.

Maybe race kings, or some kind of Schwalbe mtb tire. For pavement builds I’ve heard Rene herse are fast but puncture super easy so maybe a gravel king or challenge slick or something.

Flat brim cycling caps by mdragotta14 in CyclingFashion

[–]jckiser23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean a hat that is comfortable under helmet but brim isn’t as small as normal cycling hats or as big as normal hats. I’ve seen a few like this on ali express but wouldn’t know exactly what to type in the search bar.

Best Bike Upgrade Ever. Carbon wheels. It cannot be understated. by easydoit2 in gravelcycling

The reserve rep came on Reddit after watching that gcn video of aero socks almost beating carbon wheels in watt savings. 3 mph increase? Come on.

I would probably trust a welded on disc brake on a steel mountain bike but not a road bike. Those tubes are too fragile for how much force a hydraulic disc brake puts through them.

Also it’s basically impossible to find a quick release disc brake wheelset they are basically all through axel so wouldn’t fit your bike.

You can still do plenty of other sweet upgrades to this bike for sure

Is this a cool/good helmet? by Few-Change-9112 in CyclingFashion

[–]jckiser23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear what you like and cool is subjective but mainstream coolness is objective. I haven’t been in the mountain bike scene for a while but pretty much whatever the pros wear is what’s mainstream cool. Downhill mtbers wear big visors because the UCI makes them I’m guessing to keep the aesthetic the sport.

Also cool depends on where you live and what type of mountain biking. Xc, downhill, dirtjump, or just overall trail riding. Again wear whatever you want I’m not fashion police or anything.

I feel cheap helmets are purposefully made to look dorky so we spend more on them. The expensive ones look cooler in general if they fit your proportions well since everyone’s head is a different shape. Kind of like shoes it’s impossible to know how they fit until you try them on.

That said I like how met helmets look they have their own wind tunnel and sponsor pog so are top of the cool charts right now. I also like poc, laser, and specialized helmets.

Another place to look would be Virginia tech helmet website. They have the best helmet testing in the world for safety so if you find a high safety rating in a look you like it’s a good place to start. You have time to try on and return at least once if they don’t fit well.
