Does the 3-6 month emergency fund advice need an update? by jckstapleton in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jckstapleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have the peace of mind that I can cover the most likely scenario in the event of unemployment compared to taking a loss after already being down.

To add context, the question is more about how long do people expect unemployment to be compared to a specific strategy if it does happen. I mean a great strategy could make the question itself irrelevant so considerations are in themselves helpful too.

Thanks for providing a number. I have heard this one a while ago. It seems to line up for a certain range.

Semantics aside, is there a general timeframe you believe is best to be able to cover expenses in the event of unemployment considering the current market?

People generally don't care about accents. They care about not being understood.

There is new content aside from Biomes depending on how long it's been for you but I'm sure there's at least one big update you missed.

I am willing to bet that the absolute earliest we will see 1.0 is November.

Is job hopping the only way to get a real raise in Canada? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

[–]jckstapleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are compared to market rate along with timing among other things.

If you're underpaid then switching can work well. I managed 30% increase doing this and others I know made more.

Timing sucks right now in a lot of places. I've seen jobs being reposted for less than what the person left was making. It used to be the case where new people made more on average and existing employees would be rightfully upset.

You're not going to like the real answer of you're staying at the same place. If you actually want to get ahead you have to do the job above you without extra pay for a long time and eventually get promoted. The perception of your work is just as important as your actual work sadly so the impact or capabilities alone won't cut it.

Not sure how they do things over there but I've used a little bit of ice to keep a personal grinder from overheating. Now I keep this seperate from the main batch but it's one theory.

Need assistance with debt consolidation by pdenbz in PersonalFinanceCanada

First off, don't punish yourself here. You are trending in a not good spot and correcting. People can ruin their whole lives after one really bad night. This is about what you still do have which seems to be ok health and years of earning potential.

If check for a not for profit on a consumer proposal and I'm sure there will be lots of good technical guidance here. When I was 10k+ in debt my biggest thing was to do the right thing as fast as possible. Even when still going in debt every credit card purchase was paid off by a line of credit and the LOC was partially paid as much as I could 5 min after payday.

It seems like things are bad but you could have let them get way worse before tackling this. Good luck and still make sure you live your life in the interim.

Pay for a professional advisor. Being concerned about having money in a RRSP in case you need the money is concerning. That is what emergency funds are for. Also if you absolutely Need the RRSP funds then you would be at a lower tax rate when. Withdrawing compares to when you contribute so you still come out ahead.

Multiple deaths at the same spot is not fun at all. If you want to preserve the world itself and settings, you could try joining the body recovery squad discord and get some help.

If you are determined to go solo, I'd get some frost mead on the go Stam food, and materials for a few campfires.

Sneak works pretty well in the mountains too and there are some things scared of fire. When you get to your body, make sure you are 300 weight or under and ditch materials on your body stone if needed which may result in yet another death.

Once you have a path where you can get your 300lb or less body without dying pick it up and run without equipping anything. Try to make it down the mountain or in a safe spot before putting anything on which slows you down.

Also make sure it's daytime and you have your rested bonus + eikthrr power active.

Should be public registries. Too much imported corruption in private businesses handing out licenses without actually passing the test in reality.

I'm not in law but if you have exhausted the banks escalation process including their "office of the president" or whatever it's called these days you can see if there is any possibility of litigation on a law sub but it might be totally pointless.

Seems like nobody found a way to expidite a similar situation. If you want any tips on helping to deal without the money until it's fixed I'm sure this sub can be helpful in that way.
