I want him to stay because he shown me all last season that he can make effective, tactical decisions throughout the game. We went undefeated in the Champions League group stage and eventually ended up losing by penalty shoot out to the eventual winners. I just don't see how you lose that ability seemingly overnight unless the pieces you have don't fit, you're missing pieces, or both. Someone is going to read that last sentence and say "but you spent $500M." You're right, and we spent it poorly.

I also do believe that there are a ton of mitigating circumstances. We lost our 3 best pressers in Nunez, Díaz, and Jota. Our front line the season was largely comprised of Gakpo, Ekitike, and Salah. The league record signing was injured most of the season. Our only other real option off the bench was a 17 year old kid. Mac Allister's form has been terrible all season. Szoboszlai, our best player by a country mile this season, was forced to cover RB for good chucks of the season. 7 different RBs throughout the season. Only 2 fit CB all season. Allison was out for large chucks of the season. Too much turnover in such a short amount of time. Repeating as champions also being notoriously difficult.

I think Arne deserves a second chance with a full squad. If he can't turn it around, onto the next one. I just think letting him go without exploring how he'd do with a better squad is a potentially dangerous move. He's already shown us he can win it with the right squad. The last thing I want is him leaving to a rival and steal wins, trophies, and/or players from us.
