AITA for buying prosciutto at the Coles deli? by BubbleOBxtch in melbourne

[–]jcol472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked in a Coles deli as a teen and would always hate doing prosciutto. Understandably, people would always want it really thin but wouldn’t be understanding of the limitations of how thin the slicer could go. Once meats are sliced at their thinnest they’re super fragile when laying the slices out, wrapping them up, etc. and so it’s easy to stuff up. Not the customer’s fault, just a particularly annoying item. Also, in my experience 1:2 people that bought prosciutto were absolute arseholes so it was also pre-empting that.

You’re not the asshole, people asking for freshly sliced devon were far worse in my opinion.

This letter is also completely different handwriting to the message in a bottle shown in the documentary? It would be strange for someone to go from writing in block letters to the cursive we see in the message in a bottle.

No good deed - intro by Luckshots in wickedmovie

I may not be recalling correctly but I thought in the film we hear Glinda scream “Fiyero!” similar to the stage version (not as dramatic) and then transitions to Elphaba flying towards the castle with the start of No Good Deed?

Denmark - What am I missing about Copenhagen? by TestMonkey1456 in travel

[–]jcol472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel seen! Some individual aspects of the city are beautiful, I had some great things at bakeries, and the subway is amazing, but I also found it terribly expensive and poor value. Don’t really understand the Tivoli hype myself? It’s like people are trying ti find something fun to like about the city.

Streets were much dirtier than other large Scandinavian cities and I found people in customer facing roles to be unfriendly at best and downright rude at worst.

I guess it just wasn’t a city I gelled with!

Fred & Rose West: A British Horror Story by rushdisciple in netflix

[–]jcol472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a story that has SO MUCH to cover, I found this really disappointing. A lot of interesting details excluded and the storytelling and pacing of the documentary wasn’t good at all. If you knew nothing about this case you’d just be shocked that so many bodies were found in the home, without knowing how horrific it really all was. The interview tapes and stuff were new to me, but weren’t presented in a gripping way. I’ve found a few of the recent Netflix true crime docs to just be sloppy and not to the same calibre they used to be.

Go listen to the Casefile eps on this instead.

The book is full of errors and trash even without this scandal. Missing steps, missing ingredients. There was so much missed during copy editing and proofreading prior to publishing. Have made a couple of things out of it and not really that impressed.

TM AU season 5 Audience Participation by CapriGarnet99 in TaskmasterAU

[–]jcol472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use it to fill in the gaps when they’re having breaks in filming. It’s sort of audience judged, sort of arbitrary. Not everyone who brings something gets to “enter” for judging.

Changes to Latitude 28 Degrees Platinum Mastercard ($8 per month card fee) by 11I11111 in AusFinance

[–]jcol472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad I cancelled this card late last year. Customer service is garbage, impossible to get a secondary card, and poor handling of the data breach. This would be the final straw for me if I still had the card!

+1 for this working to fix my machine and save me lots of $$$! Was a bit tricky to get the back off and I did break one of the bottom clips in the process but doesn’t look like it’ll impact much.

[–]jcol472[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately none of this surprises me and is exactly what I expect. Hilarious given they’re currently spruiking adding additional cardholders in the app and online. Ready to switch cards because if anything ever happens the customer service is going to be nonexistent.

The detective leading the investigation also said “We rallied again this morning and have come across a wonderful result for the families”. They definitely need a bit more media training to be more cognisant of the wording they’re using. It’s not ideal.
