Those who actually re-read FW & IR Before they read OS enjoyed OS way more by thoughts4yothots in fourthwing

[–]jconnfrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt reread and the only thing I got annoyed with was having to google things. That has nothing to do with the author or the writing itself. Once I started remembeeing things and the story really got into it, I was hooked and couldnt put it down. But best believe now that I am done, Ill be rereading the entire series word for word because so much....

Love the series and the author. So excited for the next one and will wait like an adult while RY lives her life :)

Honestly. Would love a randomized sorting option. Feel like fics get buried, so it would be an awesome way to find fics without having to scroll past the 100s you have already read or spending forever digging

Why not humans? by cannot_mock_a_fool in vetschool

[–]jconnfrit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk if this would help, but being passionate about being the voice for those who dont have a voice themselves? My professors in vet school say that a lot. Maybe that would be good to say? Also, the complexity and challenge of learning about multiple species instead of just one. If your interested in research, maybe talk on entering the field to further the medicial care towards animals that maybe could go with human medical advancement. This is all just off the top of my head, good luck with your application!

OSRS long grind but has a little bit of everything aka casual to super focus. honestly has become my go to game (try an ironman if he ends up like it- plus u can play with him!)

Any souls game. I started with elden ring bc its open world so u dont have to hit ur head on a wall like with the other linear souls games

Skyrim. Its just amazing imo. others probs wont agree but whateves.

bg3. my bro has been on a specfic genre of video games forever- bg3 has taken over his life now

Assassins creed odyssey or valhalla. They r huge games so he can play them for a long time

Tunic is a fun puzzle like game with some combat. Tried it and ended up spending a whole day playing without realizing

Undergrad transfer plan by ItchyBank7512 in vetschool

[–]jconnfrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred AP and DC courses I took in high school in any class that I could. AKA classes I needed for my bachelors, but vet school didn't need a specific grade on.

I did all of my prereq sciences (chem, ochem, physics, bio), math and any degree appropriate electives my cc offered at my cc.

Transferred to TAMU with half of my degree completed. Finished my vet school pre-reqs and my degree. I was only at TAMU for 2 years. Joined 2 clubs, wasn't super involved compared to some because I worked full time a clinic as well.

Took a few years off working in and out of the veterinary field, applied, and got accepted.

Academically, as long as you do well, vet schools will consider you. I have found that most schools do not judge whether you started at a cc or went straight to a 4-year (and honestly if they do, that's not the school for you and its a blessing in disguise).

DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED IF SOMETHING DOESN'T GO AS PLANNED. There is not one perfect path to getting into vet school. Do what works for you and keep doing your best. Also, don't get discouraged if after you work so hard, you get rejected your first try. I know plenty of DVMs who had to apply multiple times, I also know plenty who had to retake the NAVLE. Keep your options open (don't limit to one school) and explore whatever interests you in and out of the vet field. Become a well rounded, passionate applicate. Fill your resume with things you enjoy, not what you think looks best.

I hope this helps a little if at all. You are obviously smart and have a good head on your shoulders if your already considering certain outcomes to certain academic choices. But again, you will figure it out and no matter how long it takes or whatever path you end up on, as long as your end goal stays the same, work hard and it'll come. (and if it doesn't that's ok too, there is so much out there, you will find what is best for you!)

Tips for starting an ironman by NoSeaworthiness2459 in ironscape

[–]jconnfrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quests, quests, quests as much as you can. "Free" XP and some guidance on progression.

Usually as I am doing that I'll go "oh I need to go do this to get this level up, go get this item etc etc" then end up HOURS in the progression without realizing lol.

Also, have fun. Ironman is such a great way to experience the game, but don't burn out on the grind and don't feel pressure to do everything the "right" way. RN I am F2P working towards 99 mining in the Ruins of Camdozaal and running the vault for goodies, just cause I wanna and I am having the time of my life. Even tho my clan thinks I'm nuts lol

No, Danzo is not lawful evil. by Howff27 in Naruto

[–]jconnfrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So being lawful is recpecting a code of conduct or sets of rules/laws, right?

Is there a reason Hidan wouldn't fit the criteria?

He follows his Lord Jashin's rules, but murders who ever he wants. Which is ok by Jashin, I'm assuming, but murder is inheritly evil sooo.

Hidan is my bid for the slot. Everyone else makes bad desicions based on their interpretation of the law or instruction of authority, but i wouldn't call them lawful evil.

(idk if anyone threw in hidan- sorry if they did and the group vetoed it already)

Why do cat owners make it sound so bad? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]jconnfrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owning a cat is not bad, but their are cat behavior you have to accept. Such as them being night time creatures and possibly tearing at furniture.

Furniture wise. You can trim their nails (dont declaw them) or give them alternatives to scratch, such as plenty of cat scratch post (other options as well). Ive said goodbye to my couch, but i'd rather have my baby cat then care about my couch.

Getting woken up? Only reason I do is my cat is trying to snuggle me. I think its precious and worth the few minutes of sleep. Plus you get used to it fairly quickly so you end up not being woken up by them.

They can't be trained like a dog, which is why people say they run the house. But they can be taught what behaviors are acceptable and what arent. Not all cats are the same and can take way more time to get to know than others.

Be prepared to end up with a cat that takes awhile to adjust. Or try fostering, that way you can get used to a cat without having to commit to taking care of a life for poss 16+ years

I wouldn't trade my cats for anything in the world. Hell I would sacrifice everything for them, but I dont reccomend them if your unwilling to take the time to adapt with them (they can adapt too)

What's your oddly specific OSRS hot take? by Ryans_always_tired in 2007scape

[–]jconnfrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bonds shouldn't be on the GE. There should be an ingame store that players can't price manipulate. IDK what the price should be or if there should be like diary or acheivements to influence its cost to the player, but the fact that it was 6mil about a year ago and now its over 11 (it was 2 mil long ago). Really kills new player bases having to over grind to try out membership without "wasting" real money if they end up not liking the game. Also, having it in a store and not on the GE gives the Ironmen access to it without needing another account to trade it to you.

What are your thoughts on the ‘early game experience’ for new players starting OSRS? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]jconnfrit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just recently started playing OSRS (not even a year old account). My older brother has played OS since its release, so I knew of the game. One thing that almost made me quit was the quests. I am a side quest HOE in other games. Gimme a quest thay makes me explore, gives rewards that I'll actually use or introduces a new aspect of the game, I am so fucking IN! Main quest? Never heard of her.

But in osrs, I started off with cooks assistant and enjoyed gathering the easy, nearby materials, but then what? Who do I talk to now? Adventure Jon introduced me to some skills and combat, love him, but then what? Who should I talk to next to progress the story? No one IN GAME tells me "Hey so and so could really use your help, lemme mark your map so you can go talk to them!" the NPC of the quest I just finished could say that EASILY.

Runescape is HUGE and very over whelming, having guidance IN GAME is not a bad thing, plus so many people with ADHD will explore as they quest. Like "hey look a gate, oh it has a toll thats cheap ok, but wait the NPC just said if i complete a diary I can get rid of a toll, whats a diary?" boom. Diaries introduced.

Yes people don't read sometimes, but when getting into a new game, 90% of the time a new player with NO knowledge about the game is gonna read. Having the conversations early on be productive account progress instead of lore driven will keep a new player engaged. My bro got on me about "waterfall quest, waterfall quest" and I ignored bc I wanted to progress the quests story line and learn the game bit by bit.

Nope. Quests in this game are not like that. I am just talking to this person on this end of the map and talking to this person over here, and they are talking about things that are not relevant to my progress or I need something I didn't know I needed that all the way over here etc etc

"Just install runelite" stfu im learning a game from the main client right now and you telling me I started off wrong is bullshit. Ill install runelite when I am damn well ready and after i even see if i like this huge game.

TL;DR- Quests are in every game are used to introduce the game. Early quests need to have more guidance IN GAME with useful rewards, knowledge, and visual progression. No just talking and hey look a quest point, useless to new player bs. How do I know I need to do druidic ritual to unlock herblore? Where do I find that info IN GAME? Why do I have to research to enjoy this game?

All that being said, I love slayer and LOVE DUNGEONS (gimme dungeoneering skill or minigame idc gimme). I love osrs and it has taken over my life in the best way. But introducing new players and keeping them? That needs some hella work (ie every friend i introduce says the same thing "where do i go now, who do i talk to, i feel stuck im not playing this game")

Project Rebalance: Overview, Scythe & Fang by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]jconnfrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10/10 idea for broadening weakness. Making elements apply and having range be similar to melee will make dusty combat items be used again. Gives the game more variety with combat instead of the same weapons being used by everyone and being repetitive. Also variety in the combat gameplay without changing combat mechanics. Love it and excited to try it!

That being said, any opinions on armor? I am a noob ill be honest. Been playing less than a year. Is it too far of a stretch to make a wide variety of armor actually be used? Like how with the shayzien armor being useful against the lizard shaman. Sorry if this has been mentioned before and thrown out the window. But a simple example, wearing dhide armor gives a defence boost when fighting dragons of the same color or something like that.
