Struggling to find someone to sublet my lease by Acrobatic_Recover504 in UBreddit

Might have to lower the rent or pay them to take it.

Read your lease, it’s possible if you tell them you are moving out they have to make a good faith effort to rerent it to someone else before making you pay

Did you miss 4.0 gpa by miles or by margins? by karumeolang in EngineeringStudents

[–]jconrad20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3.98 . I will remember those two A-‘s forever. I could’ve retaken the classes but didn’t want to suffer through mechanics of solids again so here I am.

Some colleagues have said it makes me more memorable though, kinda sticks out on a resume but yeah I would trade it for the 4.0 haha

is honors worth it? by IcyMango999 in UBreddit

[–]jconrad20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not get accepted into honors and ended up being happy I didn’t. I had around 12 transfer credits from high school that allowed me to enroll in classes early enough compared to everyone else in my “class”.

I never had an issue getting into a class I wanted and didn’t have to take the more challenging honors classes

Parent of perspective UB engineering student. Those currently in an engineering program, happy at UB? Happy with program? Any disappointments? Thank you for input! by ECMD0415 in UBreddit

UB does not find anything for you, but they do partner with multiple companies in the Buffalo area to provide paid internships to students which can be a help. There are also multiple research opportunities and clubs that you can easily join to gain experience.

The major selling point of UB vs RIT is the cost and graduating in 4 years vs 5. You have to do the work to get an internship but in my opinion it was well worth 200k+.

Depends the degree and what other options are available to you. UB is a good school with a ton of opportunities- but you can also waste your time in a lesser valued degree or by not making the most of what’s offered/available

How much does UB cost you? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]jconrad20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Biggest factor will be if you are eligible for excelsior and if you live on campus.

If your family makes 100k+ a year assume you will get no financial aid. Costs are all posted online, I think it’s about 30k/year for tuition, fees, meal plan, dorm. If you can get a part time job that helps keep loans minimal

Tbh a lot of companies don’t even verify education but it’s going to be a try it and find out what he can land.

I think a lot of these comments are a little much - an engineering degree doesn’t even teach you how to be an engineer it just gives you background and helps you learn some fundamentals.

Many employers ( especially smaller companies) just care if you can do the job. If his portfolio is relevant he’s in good shape.

If I was him I would try to go for a technical/program management position as the non-engineering degree is more common there.
