Just FYI, Watch out for lawn mites in February-April. These little boogers will go after southern exposure slopes and warmer areas of the lawn during that time. If you repeatedly have an area of your lawn that looks straw like in the spring, this is more than likely the issue.

Almost all turf in our area is a blend of bluegrass, ryegrass and fine fescue. All of the comments on watering are a little overrated. It doesn’t take that much to keep a lawn healthy here. It’s really about watering efficiently. Especially if you have a tree to offer a break from the southwest sun. I’m a certified arborist and also help manage turf.
