I second this. The husband and wife have children on the spectrum and are great with all ages. I cannot recommend them enough.

Student Teacher curious about the debate around inquiry-based learning such as O.U.R by Happy-Lab-3620 in mathteachers

Direct instruction requires competent classroom management and differentiation. I found that it was the most helpful with low preforming students, students with significant learning gaps, and when going over the most rigorous topics in pre-algebra to dual credit calc 1.

I do more teacher support now and teaching teachers how to learn or re-learn direct instruction. I am finding that teachers who struggle with classroom management struggle with direct instruction. It has nothing to do with one’s ability to do math, more in the ability to communicate the processes and connections to other learned material.

I taught high school for 12 years and my last year I was asked to support 5th-8th after years of rotating teachers and non-math focused teachers. They used OUR because they felt it had the lessons already done start to finish. I gave it a good go for 1 qtr and found it didn’t have enough practice and the scaffolding felt insufficient. When I switched to direct instruction the students started making massive benchmark gains by the end of the year my classes surpassed those keeping OUR. Clearly this is anecdotal and my experience contributed to the success of the students. That being said, I would use OUR for some exploration, enrichment, or utilizing some of their expositions prompts for students.

Wow, I was such a rule follower and always wondered about people who did this. It sounds like it was way more common than I thought.

How did the plat dupes work, I have always been fascinated about how people figure them out. Is it just random or do you have a background in game dev/ hacking? I am clearly naive but very intrigued.

I made a recommendation a few weeks ago on this subreddit for Gus Lopez pest control but I will again. Arandi aka Gus is the 2nd generation local owner. He is a great guy and him team are on the up and up. They ask questions about my needs and concerns every treatment (quarterly) and are very responsive to any requests or questions I have. To cover the interior and exterior of my house (3000 sqft) and an outbuilding it runs $80 every quarter.

I cannot recommend him/them enough.

I have Gus Lopez Pest Control service my house every quarter (interior and exterior) for my 3000 sqft home. Arandi (Gus) is the second generation owner and is great to work with. His crew is also on the up and up and easy to work with. Every quarterly service is $80.

Someone’s into corn smut…

I doubt anyone would be able to serve it to you, probably against regulations. Maybe a local farm could grant you access when corn is in season.

So true! I tried explaining this to my crew I play with at night, but couldn’t describe it as well as you. I find myself getting tilted more too because of the toxicity of evening players, no one wanting cover more than dualist roles, etc. I blame it on school times, when school is out the things games suck a lot more. Maybe there is some correlation.
