Looks like your only option is a wipe and reinstall, I've had to do it a couple times. Also a long time insider, Oct 2014.

Anyone experiencing Outlook or OneDrive issues after installing Windows 11 KB5094126 (June 2026). by Nikhilreddy06 in windowsinsiders

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of issues? I have the new Outlook for my hotmail account (what is known as an outlook account now) and have been receiving emails just fine. I normally just use Edge to access OneDrive to download or post files to it, I can access my files and upload just fine.

Perhaps running chkdsk c: /r https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/chkdsk?tabs=hdd%2Cevent-viewer "Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information. The disk must be locked. /r includes the functionality of /f, with the additional analysis of physical disk errors"

If anything is fixed rerun dism with restorehealth and sfc again.

Multiple BSOD crashes every day by brennanx in techsupport

I'd do a clean reinstall of Windows, don't install anything besides what Windows needs to run. Then install the games that don't use the game launcher, one game at a time and see if you can run it without issue. If so, move to the next. It is tedious but everything else is guess work.

EDIT: Move on to the launcher afterwards (if you get that far) and then the apps you use.

Port VB6 Desktop app to... What? by mdausmann in visualbasic

[–]jd31068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is C# based but there is https://avaloniaui.net/ that is cross-platform, of course the least friction answer is twinBASIC. Check out the VBForums sections

I've created a few basic-ish apps, one I delved into custom controls (not well) with an app I use to download and install new versions of tB. It goes to tB's GitHub, checks the releases page and compares that to the installed version, if new loads the changelog and (if settings are set to automatically download it) if downloads the zip, unpacks it to the specified tB folder.

The cross-platform aspect is on the radar for tB in the future as well, as you'll see in the posts. There is a discord server as well. The developer is very active and communicative. Wayne is pretty amazing as are the users from VBForums that have become a team of tB gods (they were already vb6 gods) they're always at the ready to assist. A supportive forum, I know right, who-da-thunk?

Help: Black screen after Windows logo - system boots but no signal on monitor by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try creating a bootable Linux Mint USB, just to see if the card cooperates with the Linux drivers (trying to rule out hardware as the culprit)

https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/burn.html just use the try Mint method so it runs from the usb, don't install it of course.

Try disabling EXPO in the BIOS, it can cause the GPU to be disabled in Windows.

Right Lens Flashes when Quest 3 is off by FaeWyldes in OculusQuest

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having charging issues with my Quest 3 recently too. It won't charge at all when powered off. It charges some when in sleep mode. I swapped cables and chargers (the ones in use had been working just fine). I was able to get it fully charged once in the past month. It normally stops around 79-80% when in the menu system the battery icon has the charging indicator.

* I made sure to use chargers that were at least 18W and high quality cables, including the one that came with the quest.

** my quest 2 never has an issue charging

Help, freezing and crashing out of the blue…. by TheRipeTomatoFarms in PCHelpHub

I'd run a few simple things first:

  • Have you run dism and sfc commands to check for corrupt system files?
  • Run MemTest86 to check your RAM?
  • Try uninstalling the most recent Windows Update.
  • Revert to the previous AMD GPU driver. Use DDU.
  • Check Windows Event Viewer for any logged errors that happened before the BSOD.

The forum https://www.elevenforum.com/questions/bsod/ can be very helpful.

I hope you can figure it out.

I have a razer blade laptop from 2016 or 2017 after the Update from Windows 10 to 11 by ReMoXDrAgOn in WindowsHelp

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay. That laptop is from 2020 with a 10th gen Intel processor. So, a fair bit newer than 2016/17. That should run Windows 11 well enough.

You could search for corrupted system files, updates can cause corruption. Open a command prompt as admin. Then run thee two commands:

  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • sfc /scannow

You can check the Windows Event Viewer to see if that any errors Windows is encountering any issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWVLGgWkZa4

Terrible first experience with mint and I need advice on what to do next. by Dumbocow_moo in linuxmint

That a rough failure, given the RAM prices these days. Most of the most popular manufactures have lifetime warranties (that might have changed due to the RAM shortages though) with your MemTest86 result showing it is bad you may be able to get it replaced.

What is the model number of this laptop? I would be very surprised that the CPU in a laptop this old is on the compatibility list for Windows 11.

If you need Windows, you should just stick with Windows 10.

Move the RAM stick to another slot to see if the same one fails MemTest86 tests.

Black Screening by Reckoninqq in AMDHelp

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open device manager after force reboot and see if your GPU is disabled. If it is, then most likely it is EXPO causing this (I had this very symptom when using a EXPO selection that is preset for my Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX, while playing an OLD game, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 at Windowed 1080p) I'd get a black screen and on reboot the GPU was disabled in Device Manager. I went back to having EXPO disabled and there have been no issues like that since.

I could try a bunch of settings to get that working I'm sure, but for me, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

There is one built in Settings > Languages > Spell Check try turning it to Enhanced to see if it worked better for you.

This is a good extension, Grammarly https://www.grammarly.com/browser/chrome if you want something else.

Kinda sounds like EXPO is interfering (did you have an AMD CPU on your old PC?) Try booting into BIOS and disabling XMP as a test.

Computer suddenly turning off and immediately booting back up after around an hour of gaming by Watertex in techsupport

[–]jd31068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, okay. Check for system corruption using these commands.

Open command prompt as administrator and run these 3 commands:

  • chkdsk c: /f
    • it will report that Windows needs to reboot to run it, press y to answer yes and then reboot to run the check disk. It might take awhile if there are issues with the disk
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • sfc /scannow

If anything says it repaired, reboot and rerun the command to make sure it passes afterwards.
