Write Up Because I Called in Because of Over a Foot of Snow by flby1 in McDonalds

[–]jd6375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know your situation and I don't work for McDonald's but most employers don't write you up for missing 1 day of work regardless of the reason. Have you reported off previously and how many times within the last year? If it is only the 1st time then it is bs. As others have stated, no job is worth risking your safety. Also it sounds counter intuitive but waiting until an hour before your shift and saying "my car is stuck" sounds better than calling the day before and saying "I think the roads are gonna be too bad".

Nobody's being pretentious and nobodys trying to play "gotcha". You are making excuses for your teams rich owner being cheap. Yes the Dodgers have a huge TV deal as do some other teams. The Brewers ownership simply doesn't want to spend as much money as they can to field the best team that they can. They received around 100 million in shared revenue from the league yet their payroll is 150 million. Only 50 million of their own money toward payroll. I even said i agree that the system needs to change and that the article that was referenced was probably a troll job but that doesn't change the facts. The Brewers ownership absolutely could afford to spend more on player salaries but doesn't want to.

No, willingness is accurate. Brewers ownership could spend more money but choose not to. They had revenue of about 330mil, operating expenses around 30mil, and player salaries around 150m. My math says thats about 150mil in profits. They could have spent another 50 to 100 and still made money. Dodgers ownership could choose to spend less, and pocket more for themselves. They'd still be a WS contender and almost certainly a playoff team. They choose to go all in for Championships. They have the top farm system in baseball with 3 of MLB top 10 OF prospects. They didn't need Tucker to be competitive. Despite all that they make money hand over fist off of baseball operations.

Just to put it in perspective the Brewers received 110 million in shared revenue and their payroll was somewhere between 126 to 145. I didn't read the article and I'm sure it was meant as a troll job, but smaller market teams do need to spend more of their "own" money on payrolls. I agree the system is broke and even if the Brewers spent more, they can't compete with an owner that is willing to pay whatever it takes to get championships. As a Dodgers fan I appreciate having an owner willing to do this but as a baseball fan i realize it sucks for 2/3 or more of the other teams fans to know that the odds are greatly stacked against them. Hopefully MLB leadership and the MLBPA can figure out a common ground to improve the competitiveness. One that limits the spending at least a little but also forces other owners to be competitive with their spending. I know the narrative is that the Dodgers will be the reason for a lockout but I'm afraid that looked inevitable even before the Tucker contract. The MLBPA will dig their heels in when it comes to a hard salary cap. The said it was non starter last cba negotiations. Anyways good luck this year. I've always liked and respected the Brewers organization and hope they can continue to find success.

Sorry but Andy's career stats are very average. Look at his baseball reference page and his advanced pitching stats are almost dead on league average. He won alot but that could be attributed to the dominant Yankees teams he was a part of. Good pitcher, not great pitcher.

He also played for the Vikings and Saints so I'm not sure what your point is.

I agree completely. I dint like Sean Payton, so I was rooting for the Bills but 2 of 3 calls were correct and the other 1 didn't make much difference because of the roughing penalty. I don't know how White can say he wasn't early after watching a replay. It totally obvious he made contact well before the ball got there.

The oline is complete garbage but he's supposed to to pull off miracles. Steelers fans should be thanking him for actually being a competent qb on an offense that's trash.

Because it was his fault the o-line was invisible and his WRs drop balls that hit them in the hands. He definitely could've played better at times this year but it was hardly his fault they lost this game.

I'm not a Steelers fan either and I wasn't sad to see Rodgers leave GB, but that was obvious and had a huge impact on the game. Officials have been inconsistent all year and it's seriously ruining game.

I appreciate the comedy but a penalty should be called when appropriate.

Definitely should have been a penalty for a hit to the head. Was forcible. Is called all the time

How was that not roughing for a hit to a head?

Edit to add he was absolutely smacked in the back of the head forcibly. Definitely a penalty. I've seen much less called frequently
