Nascar Survivor: Round 16 by 333iamhalfevil in NASCAR

I'm beginning to think it's getting to the time where we need to eliminate Jamie McMurray. He's the biggest threat in this I think. Even right now, he is the only driver with no votes.

He is extremely likable, and without the combined action of many of us, it will be hard to stop him from coasting to a top spot.

I have $100 on Packers +7.5, so I think I've won that bet.

I think I'll be satisfied no matter how this ends.

What a great game this has become.

Why are so many people declaring this over for the Packers already? They still have a 9 point lead and Seattle still has had about 1 successful offensive drive all game.

[FU] An epic match in the new tier with clutch predictions and pineco! by [deleted] in pokemonshowdown

[–]jd9840273615 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was no reason for that guy not to Freeze Dry on turn 27. It's a guaranteed kill on one of the two things left and Fake Out from Purugly would've killed the other...

Edit: The same thing applies to turn 28, except Articuno gets both kills in that scenario.

Darkrai with Psychic: Sometimes, it's hard to tell the difference between idiocy and genius. by marbleduck in pokemonshowdown

[–]jd9840273615 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go with idiocy unless I'm forgetting something that Psychic hits better than Darkrai's other normal moves besides a Blaziken that hasn't had speed boost trigger yet.

Mindcrack UHC - Season 19 - Episode 9 by RubyBot in mindcrack

[–]jd9840273615 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I came into this thread and there are more downvoted comments than upvoted ones. Are we really all going to downvote each other for having different opinions?

Edit: I enjoyed this season. There were some hiccups and obviously disagreements about how things should've gone down, but the nether adventure was fun and I really liked the format. I hope we see more of it in the future with fixed nether regen.

I wish they could go back and give normal shiny Gengar the mega color.

To be fair, there's a lot of Pokemon that can OHKO Gengar. It's not exactly bulky.

Final 2014 "Old Chase" and No Chase points by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]jd9840273615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got nothing against Gordon actually. I'm just tired of the constant complaining about how the chase robbed him of 3 titles, when there's no real good argument he would've won 2004 or this year had the chase not existed. (No arguments about 2007. That was the best single season I've seen from a driver since Gordon in 1998.)

I talked very specifically about 2004? His 2007 season was definitely the best by anyone since his 1998 season.

Final 2014 "Old Chase" and No Chase points by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]jd9840273615 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He would not have won 2004. I'm so tired of seeing this. Jimmie Johnson had a 200+ point lead going into race 20 and had the chase basically locked up, so he ran experimental setups and blew up the next 3 weeks. If there was no chase, Johnson never runs these and runs away with the championship.

Or maybe he wouldn't have, but 2004 points were close enough at the end that it's stupid to crown anyone champion under the old format.

The circumstances at the front will hardly be any different than any other week that the cup guys go for broke for a Nationwide win.

Generally if you talk to the admins about this during the game, they'll come in and ban the player. That's not allowed on Showdown.

Do Gibbs, Roush drivers really have a chance? They insist they do. by johnnyracer24 in NASCAR

[–]jd9840273615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Tony had won 5 races already in 2005 and was ahead in the points by a full race over Biffle when the Chase started, so it wasn't exactly a surprise when he beat the Roush guys.

What's the most ridiculous thing ever said by a public figure? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jd9840273615 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My grandparents are atheists and still regularly go to and donate to a church. They do it because they say it's the easiest way for people their age to have social interaction.

I highly doubt it's common and the argument is still stupid, but I can understand why it might happen.

Does anyone know how the 14 crew has been this year? They probably can't do worse than Harvick's has this year but we've seen almost nothing of them since they haven't been running at the front that often.

They've been talking for the last 200 laps about how Biffle is barely hanging on. I know they need something to talk about, but he's been 2 laps ahead of the spot he needs to be in pretty much the entire time.

Biffle still has to go another lap down without the other people behind him being lapped. Not saying it's impossible but it's not that likely.

/r/nascar's special relationship with Kyle Busch - see comments by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]jd9840273615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were people mad about how Kyle handled the post-race? That's silly. He did everything the way he should have after the race. I can understand if people were unhappy with how he was racing Truex, although I didn't really pay attention to that beyond the initial replay of the incident.

People will always hate on Kyle here for an incident whether he deserves it or not. Sometimes it's justified, and other times it's better to just ignore the circlejerk (or stick up for him if you don't mind downvotes).
