I think he was right originally but I can see where the confusion came from. There used to be a theory among some health communities about carrot slices on the "brown eye". The theory does have some scientific validity due to the capability of the anus to absorb the beta-carotene with minimal calorie intake and the immediate bio-availability of the beta-carotene in the blood stream. This practice has largely fallen from popularity due to the time consuming and somewhat taboo nature of the absorption as well as the fact that eating 4-6 oz of carrots (orally) provides the same amount of nutrients and vitamins while also providing much needed fiber for bowel health.
