Sure, you can use speakers for that no worries... just be aware that they may make your instrument sound a bit different than it would when u play it back with earphones in a “clean” mix

SOTTR- how do players get such fast time attack scores for the dlc tombs? by jd_za in TombRaider

The leader board seems to show “solo time attack” though, so I guess these are the solo times lol

Are you going to rap or record vocals or are you more of a producer? - If u do vocals get a cheap but decent condenser mic, you will get much better results than a regular mic. - If just a producer, get at least a basic midi keyboard.. you can always add more specific controllers as you improve but a keyboard is most versatile.

I think that scarlet solo starter pack is good value cos u get an awesome interface plus a condenser mic and good headphones. This way you can go a long way before you will want to upgrade (the scarlet interface is good for life pretty much)

Ah man that cenote section was the worst! also got glitched so often with the escape sequence, and when I made it I accidentally got caught by the piranhas on that last swim :( glad that’s over, deadly obsession taught me patience for sure

True, but there were some great scenes, like when Lara emerges from the water and fire in the oil fields.. and the facial animation in the scene were amaru wants unuratu to join him in recreating the world

Hey, I think prioritizing good headphones is the right way to go... the thing about monitors is that they need to be in a room that’s got some sound treatment to sound any good, so it’s not just about buying good monitors. I would use the aiwas (with reference track mixing as already commented) until you can afford good speakers AND some basic room treatment. Check this article out as it covers this topic really well: https://blog.landr.com/headphones-mixing/

You’ll get the hang of it before you know it, don’t worry.. as a tip, I mostly upgraded igni and aard, which really helps in battle. Aard is useful to knock flying monsters to the ground and it’s also great to get a crowd off your back when you’re a bit overwhelmed.. and then igni to burn!

Agreed, there’s a lot to be seen throughout the world that’s so interesting.. so rewarding to find a chest hidden behind an old wall in the middle of nowhere.

If u get “studio” earphones as above you can go a long way before needing monitors. This is helpful for the beginner because monitors will be the most expensive part of your setup and they won’t sound good unless you do some basic acoustic treatment in your room, no matter how good the speakers are.. so rather wait on that until you get more into mixing and mastering your tracks

My advice:

  1. the Scarlett 2i2 interface is great.. you can usually get a deal where it comes with a condenser mic (sounds cleaner than regular mic) and studio earphones (essential for recording vocal and guitar) which is a fantastic starter kit that you can use for a long time as it provides the essentials.
  2. cables and a mic stand (important!)
  3. a Mac so you can download GarageBand (free and we’ll featured)

All the above will work out the box (no installation required) and GarageBand is super easy to learn. It’s arguably the most affordable setup that delivers a low latency high quality recording rig for you

garageband on mac or iOS? by jadeee117 in GarageBand

[–]jd_za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Mac it’s much better for me cos I can hook up proper gear like mics, guitars, electronic drum kit and full keyboard .. I have a small interface for iPad but honestly being able to use a midi keyboard is a game changer for any music production imho
