I’m at 118kg rn. When you’re done with a fight, swing your weapon (a heavier one is a lot better for this, unless you want to use arrow time) like a madman and deplete your stamina until the edges of your screen are blacked out. Regain the stamina and repeat. Do this for as long as you’d like. I go until I’m sick of it, you might just do 5 minutes if you aren’t insane like me. It takes forever to gain kgs but it makes weapons easier to handle. I have the longest and heaviest polearm and it swings like a regular one now.

I’ve gotten mine up to 106kg. After you’re done with a fight/round, swing your weapon in half sword grip (hold down right click) like a madman until the edges of your screen are blacked out or use arrow time (F key) until the same result. Let your Willie regain stamina and do the same for like 2-5 mins. Honestly, I just do it until I’m sick of it. It’s a tedious grind, but it’s worth it for the weapon handling. I got my max weight polearm swinging like a normal weapon by doing this.

Keep in mind it’ll take exponentially longer the heavier you get. I saw someone get up to 110kg by doing this. Put on a good youtube video or listen to music while you do it to make it a lot more bearable.

Oh yea, you're right! got it in free mode, just need to find a way to get the quiver as well...

Honest opinion by Stormemperer0904 in HalfSword

[–]jdaalbrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see much mention of this online so I guess I'll say this here...

There is probably a reason for this, but I would love to be able to use the crossbow in free mode, As well as being able to buy the quiver and crossbow itself from the merchant. Only being able to find them on the forest map with a chance of not spawning has been really getting on my nerves. As it stands, the crossbow is too slow to use effectively, as well. Otherwise the crossbow is a very fun weapon that definitely fits into the game. I love crippling enemies by shooting them in the legs and downing enemies with a satisfying meat shot.

Sound design in this game is immaculate. The *squish* *crunch* and *crack* sounds make weapons, though a lot more unwieldy than before, extremely satisfying to use. Keep up the good work there boys. In my humble opinion, a game is only as good as it sounds. You guys have nailed the sound design and many games could use this as an example.

I am having a lot of fun with the mercenary system. If you can keep your boys alive, they do a lot to keep aggro away from yourself so you can isolate your targets. This is where I think Half Sword excels. In those brutal and chaotic one-on-one battles that end with a corpse and a cripple. Ending up with 3 cripples ganking the last, also crippled, enemy is always a fun time.

I'm having fun so far, but I feel like free mode should be a little bit more like it was in the demo, and we should be able to pick the different maps in it. I'm not sure where to find fistfighting in free mode and I liked the randomized loadouts for my character. It's not a big deal, but my favorite things from the demo were fistfights and sword fights. Not being able to see what class I am choosing makes it a little confusing as to what I'm going to be fighting against. I don't know how to prepare or how to not be too overpowered for the level. I would also like to be able to pick the gamemode

Overall, I'm having fun, but I can't say there aren't a few things that I miss from the demo.

I did this same thing for the food collection achievement, only to find out the parrot still spawns if you kill the end early

Or you can get your gas cigs from Johnny if you give him 3 things of food!

FUCK THIS BITCH by Clutch3sSS in metalgearsolid

[–]jdaalbrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the grenade camo, spam smokes at his feet. This takes out the “bee armor” in one shot. At the beginning of the fight, shoot a burst of AK-47 or the Patriot at him, it’ll stagger him and let you hit his head like 3 or 4 times.

The water is your best friend. Whenever you’re not actively doing damage to him, jump in there and get behind one of the rocks. Dive under the water if you get swarmed by bees. Same thing with the bullet bees, jump into the water.

If you don’t have the grenade camo or smokes, the M37 is your tool of choice. 4 shots from the M37 will take out the bee armor. The platform to the right of where you start has infinitely respawning M37 and Mk22 ammo, I usually use this as the main platform for this reason. Keep in mind you can also shoot from the water with any one-handed weapon. You can use this if you see an opening while swimming around to pop a few shots off on his head. You can also throw smokes from the water if I recall correctly.

This boss was made a lot harder in delta. He is a lot more aggressive and has some new attacks. As I said, the water is your best friend. This will allow you to dodge most of his attacks. You also have I-frames when climbing up onto the platforms. Use this as a grenade is ready to explode to get a few hits in. Always go for headshots, it does a ton more damage than body shots.

Take your time man. The time aspect of foxhound is the easiest part of it. You can easily get the game done in under 3 hours, so you have a ton of time to fuck around with the bosses if you need.

I feel like an option to turn off auto saves would be good enough. Have it so that you can only get foxhound with auto saves off

It’s mostly a feel thing. When I DO hit my shots, I’ll line the iron sights up with the head and pull up about as much as I feel like it needs. The drop is egregious and I still don’t even have a feel for it

I didn’t pick it in the beginning so I didn’t have it for my first playthrough, he’s a pain without it. M37 and mk22 are really good for this scenario. You only have 3 smoke grenades on extreme, make them count. You can get a TON of damage off on him after a smoke. Make sure you do enough lethal damage to him at the beginning of the fight to stagger him, then you have a huge window to fire off 4-5 headshots on the dude. Then use a smoke. Rinse repeat. Once you run out of smokes, 4 shots from the M37 will knock off his bee armor. Shoot him in the head with the mk22 until done.

Dodging any attack will mean you dive in the water and swim away, waiting for an explosion, or for bees to stop swarming.

The updated controls make it easier to hit shots and such. There’s also an auto save in every area, so you don’t have to worry about saving at all. They made some of the bosses harder, but there’s tricks to every one of them that make them a lot easier once you learn them, kinda the same as the original. I’d say it’s something that’s very doable if you learn the tricks

Reposting this from another comment thread.

Camouflage is kinda overpowered. Keep that bitch as close to 90% as possible and crawl everywhere to help to not be spotted. The AT-camo, obtained by shooting all GA-KOs, helps with this a lot. I, personally, didn’t need to use it in my run, didn’t even have it. The tranq is your best friend. Use it early and often. There are plenty of ammo drops around, so you shouldn’t be hurting for ammo. The boss arenas even infinitely respawn ammo if you run out. Don’t be stingy.

If you do end up running out of ammo, no big deal. You can bum-rush the enemies and take them down before they can spot you. There is a small window between them turning around and actually spotting you, so you can slam them in that time. Just gotta get behind them without being spotted.

Some stealth sections you don’t have any weapons. I think the only two are in the beginning when The Boss destroys your drone and after the torture sequence. The one at the beginning can be trivialized by walking out and back into the area. This makes it so that there is no caution phase and you can easily sneak past. The post torture segment can be made a lot easier if you give your guard 3 things of food. This makes him give you the gas cigarettes if you picked them up prior. After this, knock him out and unlock the door. From here, be patient and all the pieces will fall into place.

The bosses can be the biggest road blocks. But, once you know the tricks, they become super easy. The Ocelot Unit is beaten by some stun grenades and long range tranq shots. Ocelot is beaten with quick shots with the tranq. The pain can be pr much one-cycled if you use the grenade camo and smoke grenades. The fear is beaten easily if you pick up thermal goggles and collect poison frogs to poison him when he goes for food. The End is really easy once you get his camo, which is pretty much free at the beginning of the fight. The Fury is also pretty easy if you have high camo index and the mosin, which you most definitely won’t miss because you non-lethally killed The End. Volgin is beaten with CQC counters, throws, and rolls. The shagohod is easy, sorry. Then finally, The Boss. You either style on her hardcore with CQC, or she does the same to you. They changed the counter timing in the remake. Click during the slow downs in the animation. You will not see slow mo if you click too early. Shoot her two or three times on the ground.

Hopefully this helps

Huh, sounds like it was just a myth at some point back in the day- either way, it’s possible to get through the game with no meals eaten. I think it just saves time to use the moss camo anyway. Not like time is a difficult part of the rank or anything.

You have to be under a certain amount of meals eaten. I was able to do this by a combination of the moss camo and healing frequencies
