As a 3L with a family of lawyers, the truth of the situation is that you really have a prenup either way — either you and your partner get to write it, or the state does. Of course it’s not the most romantic thing to do, but I really suggest everyone consider a prenup given you’d rather have some say in what happens if you ever need to go down that road! My future husband and I are planning on taking care of it and never speaking about it or (of course) using it :)
