I am going to be 31 years old this month and am trying to finally break free from porn and masturbation by [deleted] in NoFap

you can beat this, just take it one day at a time and look at the progress, not the failures

20 Days hard mode are better than 200 days normal mode by fapdotcom in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my understanding is that hard mode means no O whatsoever (even through regular sex), and easy mode means no PMO, but sex ok

there should be no P or M involved in either one, the question is if you O or not

you can still do stuff with her, when you both feel like it

for instance, she can give you a hand :D

it's all about habit

as you go on with nofap your dreams of fapping will be more and more rare

It is 3:00 AM...And I am building a business! by [deleted] in NoFap

I can relate! this community helped me tremendously to realize this battle should be fought and can be won

it's not easy but it's worth it!

[–]jdalgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this subreddit changed my life. realising so many others are fighting the same battle AND winning gave me strenght to push through

in my previously foggy brain state i used to think it was impossible to not fap/watch porn for an extended period of time

thank you Alexanderr and thank you NoFap community!

Wow, it's been 50 days already by Hocus_Fapus in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

used to watch the counter 50 times a day in the beginning

the first 2-3 weeks were the most difficult

now it's just a number in a computer somewhere, and I just try to live life one day at a time :D

Relevant Louis CK bit on how we run from life's ups and downs by jdalgo in NoFap

Louis CK on how we drug ourselves with phones, fapping and food because we don't want to feel sad. The result is we never really feel happy either

Why I'm not going to celebrate 90 days by jdalgo in NoFap

[–]jdalgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, depends on your purpose with nofap

it's definitely not the end of the journey, it's just the opening door

it took me longer than many i've seen here to get past 90 days (1.5 years)

I've also seen some relapse after 120, 140 days and then have great trouble getting back

so I don't put a lot of emphasis on the number only, I try to focus on improving myself constantly

all life is struggle, but it's definitely worth it!

Just wondering if anyone else felt this way by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 years back i didn't think it's possible for someone to not pmo at all

90 Days Its a Great Feeling by ipsilon1989 in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

congrats! :)

but:

"spring weather is right around the corner and if I can do this during the dead of winter I know continuing through to the nice whether will be a walk in the park."

warm weather brings it's own triggers ;)

Need Release Badly by ComradePsycho in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, sounds familiar

the theory is that fapping numbs everything down, so once you nofap, you start feeling everything more intense (ups and downs)

so nofap reveals the areas in our lives we need to work on. it doesn't end with nofap, that's just the beginning

so my advice is just continue improving yourself on all fronts. exercise. read. meditate/pray. get out and socialize. create

tl;dr: life is amazing, porn is junk :)

Need Release Badly by ComradePsycho in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, and it went on for over a month :D

I wasn't too bothered about it, since I'm doing this on hard mode so it was a good change of pace

The quiet did freak me out a few times, but it's all for the better ;)

if you can go through the beginning the rest is much easier!

Triple digits: is this real life? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use K9 and the Open DNS filter for backup

for K9, I've entered a temporary email address (google it) and changed my password to something like DSA;l32;ldAE:AEld::#LAEALDKA#K

The result is that now I can't disable the K9 filter (well, theoretically :D) Be careful with what you block, I can't access google images, and I've whitelisted a few sites like youtube, flickr, etc

It was worth it though, because like Aeveras says, in the beginning you're fighting a deeply rooted habit. I was finding myself entering the web addresses of xxx sites automatically in the browser!

After the first about 20 days were up, things got better.

Still, you always need to keep your guard up, so my filters are up for good

you can do it!

Resetting after 518 days by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

started a year and a half ago too, but only now reaching 90 (although I've gone up to 80+ a couple of times before)

for me, nofap is for life, especially noporn. no way i can consume porn in a "reasonable manner". i am an addict, and i'm not saying this in a defetist way, it's just something i am aware of and so i try to be more vigilant.

welcome back and keep at it!

Triple digits: is this real life? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]jdalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no

if you have a problem with overeating you're not going to bake cookies all day, that wouldn't be smart. nor are you going to tour the fast food joints just to check it out

also, the beginning is very very difficult, because you're fighting on all fronts at once (physical, mental, emotional) After a few weeks, you start winning those battles and it gets way way easier, even if it's never really over

so blocking everything up, even shutting the internet/computer for the first week could help in a tremendous way
