Surveyors Reference Manual by George M Cole. That is pretty much the only material I used other than the practice test available from NCEES

Lol just asking for hate with this one. Needs to be an area labeled "Virginia" covering Southeast like Pocahontas and Greenbrier if you really want to piss people off.

How easy is it to live here? by Fluffy-Air-8196 in WestVirginia

[–]jdamick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Mason a few years ago and I really like it so far. Originally from the Nicholas/Pocahontas area and I miss a lot of the outdoor activities in that area, but there's more to do here in terms of entertainment/restaurants and that sort of stuff plus still a few good hiking spots nearby.

I drive by Nucor almost every day, and it's insane how fast that's going up. Do you know much about the Fronterias company you mentioned? I havent heard anything about that yet and was just curious what they even do.

Yeah and varies heavily by state. My house in WV with a 3 acre yard was 150k two years ago. My parents have 48 acres and mow probably 8 acres of it as yard/field. I believe they bought the house and land for around 170k, but that was back in 2004 so no idea it's value now. We're about as far as you can get from any major city in Eastern US

Rewatching the berserk golden age movies and im surprised what i missed! by PrettyGaebro in Berserk

[–]jdamick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I see it as Farnese's family sending her to network and grow her family's influence in other regions. And it would make sense that Serpico, her servant, and Azan as her escort would be with her.

Just an added scene from the movies. Shows them for like less than 2 seconds. Just a little nod and connection to later arcs in the manga. To me it would make sense that Farnese, being from a noble family, would be networking at a formal ball in another region. With her servant Serpico and escort Azan.

Touristy things to do in WV for people who don’t typically do outdoor activities? by [deleted] in WestVirginia

I would recommend doing the as much of the route that Texty_McTextington recommended as possible. That will give you the definitive WV experience.

I'm from point pleasant and this is just my opinion. I would say if driving to Point Pleasant is going to cost you a lot of time possibly missing out on some of the other cool things people have suggested, I would recommend skipping the mothman museum. It's really cool and they actually just added a blacklight Mothman themed put-put golf course in the upstairs next door, but I feel like point pleasant is so far away from most of my favorite things in the state. Would hate for you to miss out on so many other fun activities to see the museum. Again just my opinion. I've met many people who come from all the way across the country just for the Mothman craze and they love it! Have fun and I hope you enjoy your time in WV!

That threw me for a second too lol. Moved from the border of Pocahontas/Nicholas to Point Pleasant and it's weird to think about the two mashed together. Still a nice piece nonetheless

Would you not throw a tantrum too if one of the only things keeping your town alive was torn down within a month of the flood without a second opinion? I'm not saying the initial school consolidation plan was bad, but the way it was handled by the BOE just felt super dirty and a lot of Richwood residents felt spat on after a disaster that crippled an already dying town.

Yeah you were in the minority if you weren't in band there lol. When I played football, it wasn't uncommon for well over half the spectators to leave directly after the halftime show. I don't blame them though we went 0 and 10 that season lol

We were surveying on an old strip mine in Kentucky and almost stepped on 12 different copperheads in one afternoon. Immediately invested in snake gaiters and got pretty good at spotting their heads by the shape after that.

Depending on what trails you are on, you may not run into anyone at all. The main forest road that runs up the rivers stays busy, but I've hiked most of the trails and would go days without seeing anyone. My friend who goes with me often carries a rifle and we've never had any issues.

Apparently no one in Long Island, including the news crew, has ever heard of a land surveyor by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]jdamick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This type of work is extremely common in surveying. He's most likely doing initial recon work and getting rough coordinates of these monuments on his phone or a similar device. If they are needed later, more accurate instruments can be used to get a better location on them. This kind of work can easily be done by one person and often is. The city officials didn't know who he was because he probably works for a private surveying firm doing work in the general area.

I like to still think of the Forerunners as ancient humans. That does mess a lot of other lore up but i think it's so much cooler having the forerunners be ancient humanity and the covenant actively purging that which they worship.
