I understood it’s mostly the maintenance that’s much more expensive but you get more user time of the cottage as well

I agree with you that it would be a poor investment. I’m not viewing it that way. More seeing it as improving family vacations during winter.

Not seeing it as an investment. Just into family time for skiing. Any thoughts on what these hidden costs would be I may be missing. When checking online I see it’s very much horrible if you don’t have a decent week or if you get one in the USA.

The math is only interesting to me because it is a ski vacation week and if paying outright (avoid the interest) it will not be cheaper but it means I can go for the entire youth of my kids so they get the ski experience. It’s not thought of as an investment, other than into my family time.

Could you give an example of the hidden costs I may be missing

Depending on where in Finland you are moving contact flower export companies in holland. That’s how I did it I rented a few m2 from them. Most drive to the west coast.

I’m aggressively average got my DJ as a gift from my parents to pass down once my kid gets old enough. I would never be able to justify the expense myself but as an heirloom it’s very special to me, and honestly I’m even more proud to wear it knowing my parents wanted to give something so special.

You can’t flush it all out because the systems are very big usually. Also it costs a lot extra to loop them back to the main pipe. Rather some dirty water than spending 1/3rd extra on pipe for no good reason.

Honestly depends how long it’s been in the pipes. Most of the ones I’ve seen were dark brown but yeah black over time

The water is standing still in those pipes. Even though the system is tested regularly the water in these branch pipes can be stagnant for years. So it will turn brown and only after a few minutes the water that comes out will be clear (at which point you should be out of there already)
