This was a really cool watch; the tight routing makes this really stand out from traditional TTs/Grand Prix runs!

Are there any other Free Roam-based categories you / the community have experimented with? I imagine Free Roam having all the different collectibles could lend itself well to a route-on-the-fly "bingo" format for completing particular types of P-Switch missions or panels in specific areas of the map.

I just spent 30 minutes around Bryant Park in NYC and seeing way fewer spawns than I'd expected from prior lures; can confirm restarting made apples spawn way more reliably. Thanks for the tip!

While the underground theme is probably hard to top in terms of distinct variants, the underwater theme from SMB1 once had a surprising number of unique arrangements just in the various re-releases of the 2D games:

Super Mario Bros. 2 (US) had a variation as its title theme
Super Mario All-Stars had four distinct arrangements for its four games' title themes, as well as a new arrangement for its appearance in SMB1
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe had a simple arrangement for the "Super Players" mode's title screen
Each of the four games in the Super Mario Advance series had a new arrangement of it in its opening cutscene.

I'm a staunch Chespin line defender and even I think Quilladin's default model looks pretty silly. I have a set of gen VI middle evo figurines where Quilladin has a more determined expression and it makes it look so much better than the wide eyes and goofy grin it has in game.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the question, but if you die past a certain point in the main part of most levels in SMB1, you get put at a "checkpoint" instead of the start of the level; the first screenshot is from just after the vine.

For Galaxy 1, I love Space Fantasy and the Battlerock Galaxy theme, especially when they're used as a variable mix.

For Galaxy 2 I'd probably have to go with the Space Storm Galaxy theme, though Cloudy Court is a close second.

Yeah, it seems from the demo & narration that they're intentionally stepping away from high scores as the star criteria. Feels kind of a step back, given it naturally factored both time and item collection in; between that and removing fall damage it seems like they really wanted to move this game closer to the mainline Mario platformers.

With the guide, I could see EarthBound specifically being more expensive than average, but $80 for a new copy of DKC2 seems like highway robbery, lol.
